The problem is certainty. Your ex-gf was getting a feeling of certainty with your relationship, and with that a girl always starts to look outside because, in her mind, why not? My relationship is good so I'll have some of my own fun and talk to some thirsty guys online, and it builds from there.

So, in my book, there are only 2 options with women. Either pump/dump, or if you want a relationship, NEVER give the girl certainty. Always leave them hanging as to what you are thinking. First thing first. Take the christmas presents back and see if you can get your money back or at least store credit.

If you haven't signed a lease/whatever for the new place, great! Find someplace else to live and don't tell her where. It will cut down on unwanted visits. Preferably close to a gym (that she doesn't go to), park, or shopping area so you can get exercise waking to get your groceries if gyms aren't your thing.

Third, find something else to fill in the time that you used to spend with/on her. It will keep you from possible looking back through rose-colored glasses. Start thinking of her as "A simple prop, to occupy my time" (credit REM).
