You young guys are lucky. In the old days, we would go out drinking and dancing. The hot chicks always had their fat friend in tow. In the bars, the men were supposed to ask the women to dance. The guys had to figure out if the hot chick would dance with them....or if she would throw her fat friend in as a replacement. No matter what, if the fat friend wanted to dance....you had to be a "real" man and go a head and dance with her. Fat women always had sweaty backs and a foul smell to them. There's always someone trying to mate-guard desirable women. They act like they are protecting her but they really just want to fuck her/own her/control her. It could be a 'friend' or a family member (usually the mother), it could be a complete fucking stranger. These people think they should be part of the vetting process. They're jealous.

Ironically, they are also indirectly saying that the girl isn't capable enough to make her own choices. Why the girl doesn't just tell the intruder to beat it comes down to pleasing the group. If it's her family member or friend and she tells them to mind their own business, the friend/family member will get pissed off (feeling embarrassed and rejected) and then the girl might be ejected from the group. So the girl goes along to get along.

Now, as a man, you are called a creep if you want to get her alone. The group insinuates you are isolating her (an abusive tactic). But the group are really the ones isolating the girl and preventing her from making her own choices. So then you approach in public and this happens. You can't win.

Fortunately, if you had some sort of a relationship before this shit starts, the girl will be missing you and will feel trapped and will want to run to you as long as you play the game right (ie: no contact). Eventually, if the girl liked you enough, she will find a way to get/speak to you.

Women are short-sighted and stupid. If they just let the guy/girl do her thing, there wouldn't be low to no challenge. But when they interfere and try to keep'em separated (As the Offspring song goes) the girl feels the compulsion to run to you.
