My soon-to-be-ex-wife made a boxed cake for my birthday and we ate at my mom's with my brother.

I was grateful.

A month later and on her birthday I organized a 30+ people party for her. I delegated tasks leaving me to have to do very little. Sure, I didn't pay for the cake, someone offered. Sure, I didnt pay for the food, someone offered. Etc.

She was forever upset with me for doing so very little for her party.

I'm done with that. I am now grateful that she is out of the picture.

Birthdays stopped being important once I was no longer a child. I realized it was another day and there was nothing special about it. The last one I celebrated was my 16th -- just because I was able to drive.

The fact that grown women still put so much importance on their birthdays shows that they're children -- perpetually in an infantile state that expects others to care for them.

You know what I do on my Birthday? Work. So I can buy myself stuff that I actually want.

Aside from kids (because they don't work) I think everyone should agree to take the money they would have spent on others, and just buy themselves something instead. Like for Christmas. Instead of buying each other shit, everyone should just agree to buy themselves something. Hang out, open presents together, eat a nice meal, but everybody buy their own gifts.

I went all out as a student buying my ex birthday gifts to spoil her, when my birthday came round she bought me a nice pair of flip flops that didn't fit, I asked her if she wanted me to get them changed or she would do it, she went ahead . 2 weeks later she broke up with me semi amicably(no cheating , fighting or anything ) , a week after that I asked her if I could have the replacement slops. She said what makes you think you deserve a birthday present ? She definitely gave them to some other guy.

My mother always gave me female bodycare products, shampoos, etc. She just bought shit for herself, gave it to me as a present, and since I didn't want it, she took it and used it herself, then told everyone I'm an ungrateful shit.

Most of my adult birthdays I've had to plan for myself because the ex was useless. Other times I was dragged to some stupid shit I didn't want to do but it would have caused a fight if I ditched.

Because there is only one day on which you are born. The supposed "birth days" are really only a celebration of the recurring position of our planet in relation to the sun, due to its cyclical motion around it.

I don't see how that day should be celebrated, especially if you think about the true motion of the earth through the universe which is compounded by many more cyclical motions.

TLDR: Birth days are arbitrary events that only have meaning to people who crave attention and gifts.
