Sounds good. Most work that’s not specifically related to actual construction can be done in about five minutes. Office work is stretched to 8 hours, most times nothing is needed, including coming into the office at all.
Everything can be done remotely in little time.

Beautiful man - Need to get out quick,Where did you learn?
[–]FindingKeeping1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
Mostly by myself. Did some short training course. It was enough to start some earning.
Job, politics, traveling was juicing me out and screwing my head. So I left it
[–]Daylanz1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Do you happen to remember the course/ What can you recommend? I've always been more of passive investor but I'd like to try day trading.
[–]FindingKeeping0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I am from India, so I have fair Idea about what I can recommend here.
You should start on your own and practice for a year atleast before you get serious about stuff.
Open a Trading account Put like 100$ or 50$ And Trade 1 share at a time for intial days.
Use Indicators like RSI MACD Simple moving averages 10, 50 , 200, 450
Scan daily for Stocks near 200 or 450 moving averages. See the movement yourself on daily basis . You will get used to it
Once you are used to setup, people/training institutions can recommend you more techniques.
Just don't blindly believe on anyone's advices or buy any premium subscriptions that give tips and tricks.

It is because our technology is making most jobs completely pointless, but people need to make money for the sake of the economy (if people do not have money to spend, the economy dies).
If we had a universal income and cut MOST of the jobs we currently have, nothing would even be lost.
This isn’t me saying that socialism is good or anything, just pointing out that modern capitalism is a sham.
It is also why wages are stagnating so much. Those ontop do not want to give more for worthless jobs. They just want to give the bare minimum to ensure there money still has value.
And this isn’t a conspiracy, it is just greed.
[–]trancedj27 points28 points29 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
I used to share similar beliefs regarding wages. However, once I dug deeper into it I learned that I was mistaken. Wages have stagnated because women entered the work force which doubled the labor force. We’ve been paying the price ever since.
As for universal income, I’m still not convinced it’s the way forward. However, given the amount of jobs that will be replaced with automation it may become a necessity in the near future. Hell, we basically have UI already if you look at the welfare system. It wouldn’t surprise me if UI was actually cheaper than our welfare program.
[–]Sir_manalot4 points5 points6 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
UI would definitely be cheaper (even if money was given to everyone).
All the people and resources that need to be put into welfare to determining who qualifies and to create arbitrary rules is very wasteful.
Note: I do not think UI is good at all. We are just in a damned if we do, damned if we don’t situation really.
Technology is eventually going to make human labor largely obsolete and even if it doesn’t, so many jobs are going to be cut that most people will not be able to live.
[–]DangZagnut11 points12 points13 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
More easily done if they just fired useless people, but no, he has to hire useless people because of EEOC quotas.
[–]waterfat-1 points0 points1 point 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
To me, modern capitalism is human greed and need meeting physical reality if scarcity.
All the other stuff you posted is beyond an extreme simplification but I get the gist and somewhat agree.
Universal basic income and all that type of talk IMO is multiple generations off.

That’s more what I meant, something that actual requires a certain amount of time to do actual trades. Not “office work”.

[–]NotVeryCash-Money9 points10 points11 points 6 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
I see what you mean, but I do work in an office. Mind you it's the engineering dept... and we are BUSY. We get paid well in my dept. and I'm not forced to attend any meetings if I don't want to.
But some people do just fuck around all day. Finance fucks around all year until the near end of the fiscal year, then they are being worked to the bone alongside contracted auditors for like 6 weeks. Most of them make double what I do which.. disgusts me. They are necessary though.
[–]NoobExterminator52 points3 points4 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
who cares what the others are doing/getting?
do you have high job satisfaction, is the pay enough for YOU?
I am a student doing 40h+ workweeks on top of two 8h shifts on the weekend for cash.. I have fellow students in much cushier lives, and PhD students who arguably do less work than me but get a wage. do i care? nah not really - i love what i do
[–]NotVeryCash-Money0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Oh I love what I do. That was never called into question. I'm simply pointing out the fact that some people can dogfuck their way through their career, and get paid handsomely for it. While some do work their asses off and aren't always paid a deserved amount, yet these two types of people often work for the same companies.
Hope you're doing well
[–]justletmemakeanacc6 points7 points8 points 6 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
Agree. I work in the software development industry. It's honestly hard to get anything more than 4 hours of solid development out of even the more seasoned developers.
We don't slack, and we often get work finished before deadlines. Trying to get a good developer to produce 8 hours of good code every day is a one way ticket to burnout.
I would also rather work at home (away from people) than at the office where i can catch a potential sexual harassment allegation for no reason. Even in my industry where there are barely any female developers. Just a risk i'd rather not take.
[–]Aladdin703 points4 points5 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
as a software developer , i agree as well with you. but we're kinda forced to do what we do. i rather just have work and do it . but the bosses want you to come (all of them) and show your face. and if you ask for too much work and is effective they take advantage of you and you'll get burnout for sure but if you work less . you'll be called a slacker by other workers who don't use their brain and just do stuff that doesn't require mental work...
[–]justletmemakeanacc0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I hate managers who micromanage too. Managers are hit and miss. I guess the trick is finding a balanced. Stick to deadlines but take time to enjoy what you write.
[–]newcaprica14 points5 points6 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Do you think it is still a good choice to study or learn code with the barriers to entry for junior devs extremely high nowdays and the diversity hiring. thinking of switching career. I work in gaming btw but the business side.
[–]justletmemakeanacc1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Sorry for the late reply, I don't know much about the barrier these days since i haven't applied to a new job in a while. But it's still a good choice to learn code if you find it fun - only if you have an active interest in it. There's far too many bad developers who don't really have an interest in it other than the money involved.
Basically, if you find code fun, make a career out of it. Otherwise don't.

[–]OldRoad5 points6 points7 points 6 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
I was wondering this too. Is Finland in the EU? If so, do they get to set their own trade policy? If not, why wouldn't all the jobs just leave, even just to other European countries?
Are they going to be required to pay the same per person, even with lower work hours? If so, it seems like the companies there won't be able to compete with companies in other countries, due to the higher labor costs. It seems like the companies will either leave, or have to charge so much for their products that they won't be able to compete anyway.
If they lower the pay similarly to the number of work hours, then wouldn't some people not be able to make enough money? If they take a second job, it seems like they are right back where they started.
Is Finland on the Euro? If they are, then how do they have the flexibility to do this, if they can't just create more Euros themselves? It seems like something else would have to be changed, to make up for the work hours change, whether it's higher taxes, a shortage of jobs, decreased quality of health care, or something else.
Again, I think it's much more difficult if they don't control their own trade policy, and if they are on the Euro.
If both of those things are true, I'm not sure how this works out as a success. It almost looks like it's being done to fail, so that no one else will ever try to shorten the work week again, even under conditions where it might make more sense.
It will be interesting to see how this works, if they go ahead with it.
[–]hulkasaurusrex015 points6 points7 points 6 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link
I would think the next step is making employers pay more for less work. I don't see how they can remain competitive. That would i assume apply to government contracts meaning all maintenence and building will take longer and cost more. Salaried employees would be doing a little more than half the work for the same pay i assume. Pure stupidity but when i saw their new government i only wondered how they would destroy their country not if.
Wow i just found this sweden shortened their work week in 2015 here is their gdp.

I'm guessing there were probably times in the U.S. where we had fewer pro-labor rules. And there are still jobs in the U.S. You can even argue that some countries need more pro-labor rules, where people are pushed to work too hard. But I think the problem here is if (1) they don't control their trade policy (and can't tax imports to keep jobs local), and (2) if they are on the Euro. In that case, it's kind of like if a U.S. state did that -- why wouldn't the jobs just go to the state next door?

This stupid ass idea was proposed in Norway as well some years ago. Especially in healthcare related jobs where mostly women work (big surpise right). One arguement was to reduce sick leave (women have twice as much, go figure). Guess it only shows that women are fucking useless at work anyway, to demand full payment for less work. So I have to pay for a bunch of lazy skanks who can't handle their jobs, yey.
The cost of this project would be insane, at it would obviously affect taxpayers alot. They pay for goverment employees after all. Don't know a single MAN who asked for this, only women and feminized men.
This and the stupid wage gap whining is driving me insane. Clown world indeed.

24 hr work weeks? Clearly zero manufacturing happens in Finland.
Good luck with it. Hope it works out. Not sure it translates to the US. We have 330M more people than Finland, and quite a ways to go before we'd be remotely considered a socialist democratic country.
[–]NotVeryCash-Money2 points3 points4 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
In terms of foreign trade/exported goods, manufacturing is actually their main sector lol. Although I'm seeing a lot more plants become automated so less workers are typically required. I believe Finland does have a lot of "lights out" 24hr shops that are automated to shit.
This will still affect them, though.
[–]ctgjerts1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–]MoonshineGuy859-1 points0 points1 point 6 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

[–]wristcontrol2 points3 points4 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Because it has been shown over and over again that productivity and efficiency skyrocket when you cut down to a 6-hour day or a 4-day week.
[–]MoonshineGuy8591 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Perhaps in a nonsense cubical job where the women spend 60% of their day gossiping. But a brick layer is going to be more productive in a 6 hour day? A factory worker is going to produce more on an assembly line in a 6 hour day? A baker? A farmer? A carpenter? A drywaller? A well digger?
This woman, like any average woman compared to the average man, is lazy and wants to legislate laziness. This is why women should never be placed in leadership positions. With rare exception, they destroy nations.

the point of growing an economy is that most people have to work less for the same amount of money. the problem is, people today work the same hours as people working in a ford factory when cars wee invented. people today work harder than peasants in the 1300s, so honestly I do support shortening the work week and hours, especially considering most people in office jobs finish their work way ahead of time. Plus, theres plenty of other reason Finland is going to fail.
