Whiskey is absolutely life-affirming. For me, a quantity of Templeton rye along with a good Rocky Patel Robusto is the way to go, especially when paired with some old John Coltrane or Miles Davis albums at the end of a long day. But to each his own.

Love the Bushmills Single Malt, has that caramel sweetness that an Irish Whiskey should, have a bottle open myself at the moment. Also have bottles of Johnnie Walker Double Black, Chivas Regal and Laphroaig Quarter Cask open as well.

Was around a friend's house the other night for a party and he broke out a bottle of Springbank from 1969, absolutely incredible stuff but exactly what you expect for £3000.

Along with fine hand made cigars, I presently enjoy the following:

Whisky = a Single Malt old enough to buy its own single malt (i.e. 18+ years old....21 appears to be my sweet spot....25 taste does not justify expense to me). Glenlivet is good. Macallan is Great. I use just a "small splash" of distilled water to "open up" the Single Malt taste.

For me a Whisky is better in colder weather. Whiskey does better for me in warmer weather and I have been known to enjoy a Craft Beer while alternating sips between the beer and the whiskey while puffing on a good cigar.

I usually will put a "designer" ice cube (round, square, even have some that look like denture teeth...-:) in glass and add a small splash of distilled water to "open up" the bourbon taste.

Whiskey/Whiskies = presently really liking the Jim Beam Double Oak and Jim Beam Double Aged. Good whiskey for a fair price.

For those on a Whiskey "budget" my sweet spot between price and taste is presently Evan Williams.

I rarely drink "alone" as when no other humans are around my faithful dog is there. She (the ONLY truly "loyal" female) enjoys our times together. She is a very good listener and has helped me figure out life plans many times over.

"Taste" is relative. To each HIS own. Enjoy responsibly MEN while taking a small amount of time as needed to reflect, Thank The Lord we are MEN, and enjoy the finer things in this life.

I’m a beer guy but do keep a bottle of scotch around for periodic enjoyment. I was turned on to it by Star Trek. Scotty went on and on about scotch, I was intrigued and (yes, as a small child) dove into my parents’ liquor cabinet and loved it (and got in tons of trouble too - totally worth it). I also recommend Crown Royal Northern Harvest (a Canadian rye whiskey). That stuff doesn’t last long around me.

whiskey is definitely my drink of choice. Primarily scotch, but have been trying a few bourbons over the past year and very much enjoy them.

Few things are more enjoyable than sitting outside with a whiskey, a pipe, and a good book.
