Anyone else here completely avoid parties and social events in general?

Yup. I don't think I'd characterize myself as having social anxiety, but I find the whole 'game' today tiresome. Men playing second fiddle to their wives or girlfriends. And I really dislike being told what I 'should' do. If I had the power to remove the word 'should' from women's vocabulary the world would be a lot quieter than it is.

If you're worried about being anti-social I wouldn't be. In fact, just because you don't like parties (I don't) doesn't mean you're anti-social. Anti- anything means you're against it. I just don't like it.

Sounds like you may be introverted. If so you're in good company. The default in today's world is to be an NPC. To hell with that, I'm a PC :-)

I don't typically enjoy going to parties at all unless they are of a directly sexual nature or for business networking. Everything else can fuck right off.

I'm exactly like that. The only exception is at work I have to be very social because I'm in a highly visible leadership position. By the time I get home from work I'm usually exhausted and want zero social interaction with anyone. I cringe if my phone rings.

I sometimes go to parties, but I try to avoid them all (even my birthday party). Idon't have anxiety, but I don't like people telling me bs 364 days per year and one day saying "congrats, you're awesome, keep it up"...

It depends on the parties i really enjoy seeing live bands because everybody is there to just drink, smoke, fuck around and have fun but it feels like a different vibe at clubs where everyones bullshiting each other from the way they act to the way they dress its all fake af. It really depends on the event. Its funny because when i was younger i wanted to be around those fake people because i wanted social validation from higher class women and social approval from higher class males but now i would rather spend my time around nerds at conventions or online in games because i really appreciate people who are real and themselves over anything now a days.

Yessir. Doesn’t really bother me that I don’t more than it is social pressure to have to spend your youth partying, drinking and other forms of degeneracy. Doesn’t really hit me unless I go outside and see people in groups going to places. I dont think Im really anxious about it but then again I wouldn’t know bc I’ve never been in those kind of situations in the first place. I would just actively avoid them bc I don’t know how conversations work and I would just be awkward as fuck and spill spaghetti 🍝 everywhere. Someday I feel it’ll come back to haunt me and is a big insecurity of mine. The day I get with a girl again I just feel like they can pick up on how social you’ve been in the past and they will pick up on my lack of social xp and judge tf outta me

I had it. Fought it with the help of a therapist and going to a lot of social things like martial arts and volunteering at festivals. Not parties or clubs at first. Now it's gone, still introverted though. You should get it sorted man, help all aspects of your life, including hobbies, interests, travel and career. It doesn't need to have anything to do with women in particular at all.

I'm similar but I think it's mostly because people are so taxing to be around. I haveto have a lot of energy to spend to go out and party or do anything social but when I do have the energy it's usually pretty fun so I just do it when I want.

I used to have a lot of energy sucked away by working with / being forced to interact with NPCs all day.. now I don't and I'm more outgoing but the tank drains just as fast.

Yup, I dislike the majority of people (they don't know it). Parties were cool but what's cooler is a beautiful glass of Whisky out of a stunning whisky glass on the rocks in bed watching a documentary. I'm 22 and already own an investment property, the vast majority of people my age aren't even in the same league as me.

I am exactly in that same boat. I severely dislike being in groups of people because I'm really sensitive to energy, and all parties and get-togethers are an energy sink. Fuck that shit. I can't STAND how narcissistic people are. It's all FAKE. The only reasons I'll go to a party are political in nature. Bottom line is, if I can make money because of going to a party, I'll go (networking, connections, etc.). Sometimes I just have to go because it "looks good," especially if I'm officially invited. Or, I'll hang for an hour if it's a friend's birthday party, wedding party, etc, while planning a strategic escape route home. Other than that, I'd rather stay at home and enjoy my peace and quiet ... all by myself. Or, go out and ride my bike ... alone. Solitude is bliss.

I get what you're saying. Even when you're out, people tend to avoid you, or aren't interested in what you have to say. They don't even know why, but they think you're strange.

MGTOW isn't really the forum for this. I imagine you may land somewhere on the spectrum. Not necessarily hockey helmet, slobbering autistic, but maybe just a bit atypical. Might be worth looking into.

After all the shit I've been through with BPD drama fueled holidays, for sanity's sake I found myself enjoying

them for my own personal reasons. Like snow, fires, homestyle food, long walks in snowy woods, etc. Stuff I enjoy alone. The rest of it, obsessive shopping, mandatory holiday parties, phony gift giving to people you can barely stand. Yeah count me out.

I relate about the social anxiety, hard to get over if you've been knocked down too many times, esp by family,

the people who are supposed to have your back. I've found that by avoiding manipulative abusive types, life

is a lot easier. But getting out there is important too, we all need people, connections. Social anxiety

gets better by taking great care of yourself, getting your shit together and avoiding a-holes. With time your life

starts to fall into place and anxiety isn't so much of an issue.

I feel the same exact way. I don't even try to make a big deal about my own birthday. I am a bit of an isolationist with a hint of social anxiety which is perfect for me because most of the time i don't like people enough to hang out with them. It's now getting harder and harder to meet people who I can align with Intellectually.

Over my years I’ve had friends who will back stab me and then just not up and talk to me anymore. After my ex cheated I would rather be alone than have people treat me like a disposable person.
