I checked autotrader. That price seems too good to be true for that car. Make sure it’s not a totaled car (older cars with low mileage), or that the engine is not about to explode. You’re supposed to change the timing belt, water pump, and other stuff in that area around that time, so see if they have records for that.

My only concern is that AUDI's are status cars so their repair costs will be very high. (Parts etc.) Remember... Audi doesn't sell cars, they sell status. You can get a much newer "bread and butter" car for the same amount. As Dave Ramsey would say... Many folks buy stuff they don't need with money they don't have to impress folks they don't know or like.

https://www.carcomplaints.com/ Good website to check out to see if a car has common problems/issues. Sometimes sample size isn't big enough to be completely accurate. When you look up audi a4 it shows an oil burning issue. Did a quick google search and it appears this is a problem with that model- this could lead to extremely expensive repair. Do more investigating to find out for sure.

I'd be worried about the year... I dunno. Just lots of things with older cars even with low miles. I have a 2007 car that is still low on miles but just patched a fee little holes in the floor under the gas pedals, the heat plate was falling off so resecured that... minor things but never know with siemthing that old. I'd be inclined to go with a much more basic non luxury car but newer

I've owned a dozen cars in my lifetime and the best car I've owned is the one I'm currently driving a Honda Civic.

Mine is a 2011 that I bought in 2015 with about 55,000 mi on it and I've only had to purchase tires for it with 130,000 miles going strong.

I think I paid around $10,000 for it and it has helped dig me out of debt and I know I can rely on it. I'll always buy Honda going forward.

Used car market is flooded right now because of many factors like the Hertz bankruptcy for example. If you don't have a ton of mechanical experience luxury cars are money traps. I'd say save as much as you can and buy a cheap dependable car. Easier said than done but shop around and be willing to walk away, you have all the leverage.

I driven a few Audis (last one was an S line A4, 2019, last year). I got rid of it. I would recommend staying away from Audis. They're fun cars, but when something breaks down, it costs a lot to fix - unless they're under warranty, which mine was. Unless you have warranty on it, stay away. Even then, I got rid of mine, anticipating what the future might cost.

If you're looking for a low-maintenance car, look to the usual suspects: Honda, Toyota and maybe, maybe VW (not so sure about it, anymore). Anything built before 2014-15, should be very reliable and cheap.

I know people who want to be ballers, buying +10 year-old Mercedes, BMW, Audi, etc. for a fraction of the price. And then get astonished at the cost to repairs needed to keep the car running. For ex., look up 2007 MB S-class gear problem coded M273. It will cost $7k-$8K to fix. You can get a 2007 MB for $6K-$7K, meaning your repair will cost more than the car.

you need some sort of one month verbal warranty from your friend as a 2006 won't fall under lemon law. Without that I do not advise the risk, go to a dealer who can give you something of the sort and then drive the fuck out of it the first two weeks to try to get anything that may fail to do it while covered.

Don’t buy older used German cars.

Both engines that came in that generation A4 are money pits. 75k? That’s a fun time in the life of an Audi engine.

Stick shift? Enjoy that clutch and flywheel job.

Depending on what you want in a car, there’s more viable options.
