You forgot the last panel, where Lisa looks upset that she doesn’t have any reason to be upset/praises for being “brave”.

Simpsons were ahead of their time, haven't watched for years, I'm sure it's gone the way of SJW
[–]BludgeonVIII27 points28 points29 points 7 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
It's kinda weird. One moment they're making fun of the SJW mindset, the next they remove Apu from the show because a vocal minority of Indians find him offensive.
[–]lookatmeimwhite6 points7 points8 points 7 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Ive seen him several times since then. No speaking lines, but they put him in the background.
[–]bluescape11 points12 points13 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
I'm pretty sure that was their planned "removal". Hank Azaria's "eyes have been opened", and since he was the voice, he probably won't be supplying it any more. Essentially a small bitchy minority got a business owning, long running, supporting POC character relegated to a background prop. Good job progressives, good job.
[–]zubbs991 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Too bad, one of the best Simpson's lines ever was Apu's comment to Bart about his special slushie ... "You can really taste the chutney."
[–]hakoonamatata90 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Very small minority. In fact I thought it was just one or two guys who found that insulting. Noone makes fun of Indians more than other Indians.
[–]247spyz4life2 points3 points4 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I stopped watching it when I saw Marge using a cell phone
[–]jordanbadland2 points3 points4 points 7 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
actually quite the opposite
[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Large parts of the entertainment industry resist the SJW bullshit because the majority of the population silently doesn't give a shit. They just want to watch some funny TV. And what they find funny is not PC.
Products that get sold are different. The majority of people don't care about SJW issues, but a very vocal minority do. The uncaring majority will buy or not buy a product regardless of the SJW messaging. The loud minority will try to only buy SJW-compliant stuff, and they will nag their friends to do the same. So if you're selling razors, it sort of makes sense to jump on the SJW bullshit bandwagon. :(
[–]lorenzot19900 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
That's why more of is need to avoid any and all sjw products and content.
[–]jordanbadland-1 points0 points1 point 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
you could've said that with less words, but I agree anyway.

The NPCs call the movie a success...
- Sure, if you forget RT actively removed pre-reviews and 50 thousand real reviews and inflated the score by raising it from 32% to 58%
- Sure, if you forget Twitter and YT filtered negative comments
- Sure, if you believe the revenues are real since YT was flooded with videos of empty theaters on release
[–]User-31f64a4e8 points9 points10 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Because they must push the narrative at all times, in spite of any obvious proof to the contrary.

Reminds me of when Baghdad was invaded and the defense minister was trying to pretend like everything was ok.
[–]TheGillos4 points5 points6 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
I didn't see it. But let's be real. It made 455 million worldwide opening weekend.
Some one is going to see it.
[–]bluescape2 points3 points4 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Yeah, most people just know it as the next super hero movie in the MCU. They don't know or care about Brie's statements, about the RT stuff, or any of that. People of various political leanings seem to forget that the internet is a bit of a bubble.
[–]nosoupforyou2 points3 points4 points 7 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
Interesting. I hadn't heard about the empty theaters. I wonder if it's going to come out at some point that they lied about the gross revenues and just how bad it will impact them.

We are at that point. I asked around this week in my office and nobody went to see it
[–]nosoupforyou0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Thursday night... I dunno.
One of those seemed to be for ghostbusters 3?
I don't go to theaters much anymore, and never on opening nights. Are they usually packed on thursday midnight openings?
But what about friday night? Were the theaters still empty?
I'm just laughing about how they used Stan Lee though.
Something is definitely going on.
But honestly I'm not sure I care about the deleted reviews from before the opening. But the bot reviews are definitely fucked up.

Lisa doesn’t care if the team is strug-ah-ling-gah.
[–]Toshiba1point05 points6 points7 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
The reason that this is more correct than I want it to be is that Ned is the ultimate white knight not telling Lisa to STFU and prove herself.
[–]afghandeadpool0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Have you seen the Simpsons or even this episode? They don't have enough people for a team and you want try outs? This ain't cod boyo get your head out McMillan's ass

We had Xena and Buffy in the 90s, but to hear SJWs you'd think women have been barred from television for 70 years.

Most SJWs and white knights on Reddit are younger than this reference.

I fucking hated Lisa back when I watched Simpsons and it was in its prime
The episodes centered around her were the worst

Lisa Simpson - Springfield’s answer to a question nobody asked.

What bugs me is that Captain Marvel pushed me over the edge to giving up on the MCU. Aside from Iron Man 1, Civil War, Thor Ragnarok, and Infinity War, every MCU was meh or OK at best -- not deserving of the hype otherwise. Brie Larson's shit made me just say "Fuck it" to marvel as a whole.
Marvel/Disney showed their true colors by not reigning in Brie Larson and trying to push an agenda instead of a story. The real cockslap though was when they decided to use Carol Danvers - a character that pretty much everyone hated - to head the MCU and ride in on her white stallion. Instead of using a good, pre-established character like Gamora, Nebula, or Scarlet Witch as their headliner, they chose a politically charged block of wood.
[–]SphincteralAperture1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I disagree, I think Gaurdians of the Galaxy, Dr. Strange and Homecoming were all incredible and very worthy of their hype. These 3, along with the ones you mentioned, I believe to be the best movies the MCU has to offer so far.
Both Ant-Man movies were good, just a notch below the ones above.
Everything else is meh to OK. Of course, it's just my opinion. I haven't seen Cpt. Marvel, but I will soon enough (for free, obviously. I'm not funding their bullshit propaganda.), and I'm really looking forward to Endgame and Far From Home.
[–]drTNT0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Yeah what kind of sense does it make for them to use their main hero with the company name as the head of the MCU? It’s not like she’s specifically named after the company or anything.
And they’re total idiots for trying to make a previously lesser known super hero become popular. We all know that nebula, scarlet witch, and iron man were super well known characters before being introduced in the movies.
I get that you can have your own issues with whatever the fuck Brie Larson did (unfortunately I don’t obsess over what actors do/say in their free time unless it’s on equal level to Mel Gibson’s freak outs) but to say that using captain marvel was a bad idea is just ignorant. They want their whole universe to be made into movies why the fuck would they just ignore one of the most essential characters.
In terms of the movie, I saw it this weekend at a packed theatre for an 11pm showing. I thoroughly enjoyed it and didn’t notice any messages being pushed at me. Carol Danvers is a character who wants to be a pilot during a time period when that just wasn’t as acceptable. I know nowadays that kind of sexism is essentially gone but that part of the movie was based in a time when those are actual challenges she would face, and even then it was confined to a couple flashback scenes that were meant to show her ability to overcome people putting her down which (spoiler alert but mobile won’t let me hide it) leads up to her being able to resist the great intelligence when it tries to tell her that she is nothing without the kree (/spoiler).
Besides those flashbacks I didn’t really notice anyone even mention that captain marvel was a girl. So again maybe I’m missing out on quite a bit without seeing why people are mad at Brie Larson, but as someone just seeing the movie who likes marvel I had a great time 👍.
Also this got way longer than I wanted I just legitimately don’t understand why people on this sub refuse to acknowledge the movie with anything besides “Brie Larson ruined marvel with SJW REEEE” when I really don’t see how her opinions would have changed the movie.
[–]RoosterOfDoom3-1 points0 points1 point 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
i have to agree with you, the movie turned out good in my opinion and i loved the continuity with Coulson and Fury, and the introduction of Goose. Brie Larson wasn't actually that bad for Captain Marvel but i hope they focus more on her story in the sequel or even discuss her in Endgame because the story was a bit lackluster at certain parts but was still a pretty enjoyable movie. i think that people are hating it because their friend or idol hates it, because they think it's propaganda, or simply because it wasn't their cup of tea. nevertheless, i feel like Captain Marvel is a worthy addition to the MCU and i can't wait to see more of her later on, i just hope they spend more time on the script and give her more story since the 1st Captain Marvel is based around her origins so it's a bit excusable on certain fronts that it's a bit choppy
[–]kungfupanada0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Honestly, I feel like this was the whole selling point of the movie. The movie was a generic one for the MCU, at best, and had nothing new to offer. It had no particular style, and it just felt like a Phase 1 movie. Their only selling point was "cuz wahmen lead". It worked with Black Panther, because it atleast had its own cool african/pink or purple/panther vibe to it. Also, the music was spot on in that movie. This was just generic, at best.
It's the "superduper" that makes this genius.

I might be mgtow but i love some female characters. Ripley from Alien, Linda Hamilton in terminator, Jynx the ninja in the GI Joe movie, many female performers and singers. you know why i like them, because they were a strong female in a normal story, not some female in a piece of propaganda trying to convince me of some fucked up political message that women are so oppressed and we should worship those poor victims. movies are always in some way going to relate to the culture and time period they were made in, but shit, its not stories anymore, its propaganda with a shitty story to tie it together.

Exactly they were just there and no agenda was pushed.
