Sorry in advance for the wall of text.

What I've learned from my relationships is that women only care for you so long as they're trying to get something from you. Once they have everything they wanted, the love dries up.

Over the course of 12 years, I have seen my wife transform from a vulnerable, caring, eager to please partner into a bitter, condescending, defensive roommate. As long as there was something from me that she wanted, she loved me. She got to move in with me, we got a dog, got another dog, engagement, shared finances, marriage, bought a new house together, had a kid, had another kid. With each new goal in sight she put forth effort towards our relationship. As the novelty of each prize waned, she would fall into despair and become distant and cold towards me.

After she got everything she wanted from me, she came to outright resent me. Started looking down on me. I was still the person I was when she had met me a decade earlier but she had "grown". In her eyes, she had matured into a fully functioning adult while I was apparently a manchild for still enjoying things in life I had also enjoyed when I was younger.

All of this after I had stayed with her through years of drug addiction that saw her spiraling out of control while I was still my consistent self. I stuck with her through felony drug charges, frequent job losses, her totaling 2 cars in 2 weeks while high, her poor parenting choices which she refused to compromise on, and lying right to my face whenever confronted with anything.

And now we are on the precipice of divorce and she has made it clear that she has no plans to play it fair. She wants full custody and child support. I absolutely hate my life right now.

Younger guys reading this... do not try and save a broken woman. You think you want someone different you can relate to and who appreciates you for who you really are, instead of playing the SMV game that normal people are.. but it's a lie. Broken people cannot be fixed no matter how much patience and compassion you show to them. And they'll end up destroying your life in the process.

Please, heed my warning and look after yourselves.

This shit hits home... From the ridiculous child support garnishment to her leaving because she discovered online dating and thought she was a catch... In my case is was the best thing in my life. I was in good shape already but started getting serious. Had a nice six pack, competing on amateur muay Thai then went online dating and my goodness. It was pump and dump galore. (6'2,shredded) all thanks to my ex... It's been 8 years. She hit the wall... Still single, try to fix shit with me afterwards... Nope. Hehe.
