Side note: still waiting on unified physical fitness standards in the United States military. Feminist should be enraged that women's physical fitness standards are lower. No one is surprised that they are not...but then we can spiral into the effectiveness of the actual test itself compared to your job and blahblahblah...

Funny note: If the weak dudes don't pass the physical fitness test, they could redo the test with female standards. As funny as that would be, it would also cause a massive shitstorm. ugh...

If they continue using this doublethink and then deploying both men and women on the front lines, it could be a problem because, say 2 groups of 5 soldiers are in danger (pinned down, behind enemy lines), one group consists of 5 men and the other 5 women... and they have the logistics to save only one, who would they save? Would they save those with higher rank/experience? Or the ones who have obtained valuable enemy intelligence? Or those with vaginas?

Reminds me of my first week of football practice my freshman year of high school. The JV squad (who the varsity squad scrimmaged against) was off doing something so they pulled a few of us freshman to go against some of the seniors in hitting drills. I got the shit knocked out of me. No white knights or coaches came to my rescue; all I got were a lot of laughs at my expense and a desire to get better so it wouldn't happen again.

That being said, it looks like the girl in the .gif wanted to keep tussling. If it was for real and not a show for the drill instructors, then she deserves some kudos.

Note how the Captain Save-a-hoes rescue here. THAT is the real problem here. This drill isn't primarily about strength or size, although when running the drill you tend to want to pair people with similar builds off initially. The drill is to break people into a combat mindset (and this is a normal part of bayonet day). It's about fostering an immediate call to violence and an attacking mindset which is needed in combat.

Technique is gained later through repetitive practice. Marines, SOC units get this training, regular army/navy/cg don't get technique instruction regardless of mos (including army infantry) and will have to get technique training through outside sources.

The guy did fine, she however stopped and hesitated. I'd have her run it again and again (just as I would a male soldier who couldn't harness aggressive action). The drill isn't about the win, it's about mindset. 15 years ago, it wasn't difficult to train soldiers to harness and focus an attack. I hear from some DIs I occasionally run into that it's very difficult now unless the soldier has prior experience through a physical sport which is becoming much rarer.
