Exactly. MGTOW is about telling men, "Do what's right for you." And it seems that nobody can handle that.

MGTOW is about telling men, "Do what's right for you." And it seems that nobody can handle that.
MGTOW in a nutshell. Well stated.

My brand of MGTOW say, "to hell with everything, just do whatever you feel like doing man"
[–]UltraCarnivore25 points26 points27 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Mine says "make yourself happy before you try making anybody else"
[–]Tyler78922817 points18 points19 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Mine is "Think about yourself, you're the only one who cares."

Nice branding! LOL

Those people who bristle at the idea have the arrogant belief that men are, from birth, pledged to sacrifice themselves for family and society. Even as expectations of women have been shattered in the last fifty years, this "white knight" notion of men's duty persists.
But we don't have to buy into it.
[–]MuleFool4218 points19 points20 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Exactly. Conforming to societal expectations is the wrong path. I'm conflicted over guys serving in the military because it's noble, honorable, but the state doesn't deserve the men who make that sacrifice. It just screws them over when they get out and are in the private sector.
My general advice is for MGTOW not to serve, but I understand and respect guys that want to still make the sacrifice.

I wouldn't join the army from my country because I rather see it burn. I couldn't join the army due to my heart condition, and I'm a bit messed up in the head.

My reason to join the army was quite practical even back then, more than 20 years ago. Even when I was young, I always had a bad feeling about what would happen in my country under the communism regime. As young and naive as I was, I still could see that society would go bad,and I needed to be prepared. So I volunteered to learn some skills. Looking back I think those years I spent in the Army were not in vain. I learned self-discipline, physical training, weapons handling, combatfighting,etc... and I trained hard. Those skills are useful now and would be more useful when comes the big collapse, but what I love most is that some day I could use the very skill they taught me to fight them, LOL... like the Mujahideen using the very US-made Stingers to shoot down some US Chinooks...
[–]Chakra_Devourer4 points5 points6 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
It used to be that men were the decision makers. Men were the kings of their castles. So it was an acceptable trade off as they will fight and die to protect it. Now, they get all of those responsibilities but no respect. Even TV commercials make men out to be idiots. Women nowadays brazenly start physical confrontations with men. They know damn well they will get their asses handed to them in a fight but they got the laws behind them.
[–]zubbs994 points5 points6 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Yes back when we gained some status/benefits for all our risk-taking/work/sacrifice it was at least a bargain that made some sense in some instances. However now, respect has been replaced with ridicule, gratitude has been replaced with entitlement, while all the burdens on us have only multiplied. The marriage/family commitment deal just makes no sense at all anymore, especially when considering the potential divorce fallout.
Just because the feminists are intent on hastening the collapse of society, that doesn't mean we have to participate. Go your own way, gentlemen.

We live in times where women doing wrong is condoned and men doing the same wrong are condemned
[–]SolidFinding3 points4 points5 points 7 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
I haven't heard a lot of "Do what's right for you" from fellow "MGTOW", to be honest. More often, it seems to be "Do what I tell you because I know what's good for you."
[–]cutt8811 points12 points13 points 7 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Judging by the scale of shit the majority of men get into and the origination of MGTOW because of that, most men truly have no idea what is good for them.
[–]SolidFinding2 points3 points4 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
In that one important sphere of human life, i.e. relations with women and the attendant serious risks, most men don't have a clue about the realities of female nature, and so information, demonstration and proofs are provided on MGTOW channels.
This doesn't mean carte blanche is given to tell anyone what to do in completely unrelated areas of their lives. This is where MGTOW can easily cross the line. For example, if I tell you: "Just a friendly reminder to go and eat your Japanese food every day as your evening meal, because the Japanese are the longest-living people on the planet, and the only people who don't eat Japanese food daily as a routine are slovenly losers and quitters who throw in the towel" I bet you'd tell me to fuck off and mind my own business really quick, and rightly so.
[–]zubbs992 points3 points4 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Maybe we need to introduce some kind of "vision quest" experience for us men, where we can spend some time alone, reflecting on what we really want, away from all the daily societal messages that are telling us what we 'should' want.
[–]MuleFool422 points3 points4 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I think it's more the messaging around focusing you yourself, your own success, goals around personal and professional life, etc... It's very much, "do what's right for you."
The rules for most MGTOW that are carved into stone tablet and are pretty much unchangeable are not ever getting married or living with anyone, so that goes along a little bit to what you're saying, but those rules really are based in fact, data, logic, pragmatism.

People don’t care about men, so don’t care about them.

“Logic is what I FEEL is real and how I WANT things to be, WHEN they can best benefit me”
[–]LotBuilder20 points21 points22 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
And if what benefits them doesn’t line up with logic then “be a man” and do it anyway.
[–]nosoupforyou24 points25 points26 points 7 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link
That's not hypocrisy. That's just double standards.
[–][deleted] 10 points11 points12 points 7 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
They’re different?
[–]User-31f64a4e8 points9 points10 points 7 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
Well, double standards are hypocrisy, yes.
I contend, however, that women are not men. In some cases, there should be different standards, because it is inappropriate to treat two different types of people in the exact same way.
We don't treat alligators like housecats. We don't treat enemy combatants like neighbors. Why should we treat women like men? This is a category error.
Now, lets be clear. There are times when sex does not matter, and women should be treated like men. The justice system should have no pussy pass.
The problem we face today is that most of the time there are different standards for men and women, the differences are inappropriate or female supremacist. Once upon a time, the different standards reflected the realities of human biodiversity; now they just reflect feminism.
[–]TheLastMgtow7 points8 points9 points 7 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Nice analogy. But lets see if i can play the devils advocate.
> We don't treat alligators like housecats.
If the housecat is given the power of an alligator at least treat it like an alligator.
So you propose that women should be treated as a different protected species again? Because although the many complains men have today, women are infact being forced to work and cant find a man to marry. It is biased that this is only affecting men, women are going insane and desperate, and ultimately if men want we can replace them.
Its women that only have sex to offer. All this feminism is just bluff.
[–]User-31f64a4e0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
So you propose that women should be treated as a different protected species again?
I didn't say that. In fact, I made no specific suggestions. I merely noted that women are not men, and that distinct standards for each may be suitable in some areas.
All this feminism is just bluff Bluff and lies, agreed.

[–]nosoupforyou4 points5 points6 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Hypocrisy is when someone does something while telling you that you shouldn't do it.

A girl (junior high school age) I once knew had claimed sexual harassment and had to give a deposition. While waiting for her chance to explain what happened, she was told to tell her truth. Then the lady who had this advised her left, saying it would only be a few more minutes. While I waited with her, I advised her to tell THE truth, NOT to tell HER truth.

Abortion and child support are both special rights that women have been given, in that they, at their soul, are intended as protective measures. No one can deny that these protective measures are needed in some cases.
If a young girl has an abortion after doing something stupid other woman will pat her on the back and tell her it will all be ok. However, if a 21 year old girl has had 6 abortions already, every woman she knows will ostracize her.
Conversely, if a female abuses her right of child support this is not the case. All she hears is "you go girl. you get what's yours."
In my opinion, if women don't stop this shit and realize the horror show they are causing, their right of child support will need to be removed.

Said it some time ago, women are expected to do everything for their best interest while men are expected to do everything by the goodness of their heart. If men were taught to be as cold, calculating, selfish, self centered, arrogant and proud as women are told to be then feminism would be gone in hours.
[–]MrRedditThrowaway110 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
When laughed at boys are taught that "nobody cares about you anyways so why care?" while on the other hand girls are taught "your beautiful strong smart and dont need anybody they are wrong your right etc"
[–]sred690 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Do what’s right means do the good thing. No one said you have to conform. The reason they tell women do what’s right for you is because they’re constantly oppressed and told how they should be. Men aren’t.

[–]Surbibel-2 points-1 points0 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
People tell men to do what's right for them too. Perhaps you're just around the wrong types of people?
[–]DasWolffy1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
No, nowhere near as many. That is misdirection and you know it. That is a female arguing tactic. If you can't see what the post is pointing out about observable reality you are part of the problem. If you step back and look you'll see it is glaringly obvious that women are told to be selfish while men are expected to do what they do as long as it benefits women.
