Boy Scouts is dead. RIP. The troop dynamic and what is required has died. I’m not blaming the women in the picture for this. Leadership ultimately failed which is hilariously ironic considering it is nearly burned into you at every waking moment in the Boy Scouts.

This sub gets a bad rep for seeming bigoted, but honestly they can’t understand how important the male only dynamic is to the experience unless they lived it. It was a lot of experiences that could never happen in school. It was training men to be paragons of their community, and yet in the end they are the types to become MGTOW. You can’t stop the decline.

What does the boy scouts offer that girl scouts can't? They ought to fix their own organization - boy scouts can be a help to boys without direction. But girls? They'll be handed a Victim merit badge, or some other perversion.

I see a lot of comments blaming the inclusion of girls, or the helicopter moms, but the downfall of the BSA all started about 20 years ago, when the ACLU sued them for being discriminatory towards gays and atheists. The result forced hundreds of thousands of scout troops out of holding meetings in public spaces and into the arms of private and religious organizations. I know a lot of troops that met at civil centers, libraries, schools, and city halls. My troop used to meet at the elementary school that I went to, while growing up, but then we had to get chartered by a local christian church. The troop was originally very diverse, with kids from all sort of walks of life, ethnicities, and cultural differences. It was a great environment to learn about my fellow men, interact with them, and find common ground, despite not always seeing things the same way. But, when the troop became chartered by a church, the membership dropped drastically. Some kids joined troops at their own church, while others just quit the program completely. What we saw in the early 2000s was rise in religious committees advising the BSA, and funding it. Now that all the troops had to meet at their churches, they had a lot more pull in how the program was run. The ACLU had the goal of making the BSA more inclusive and universal, but the result was that they made it more tightened and ingrained, until it started splintering a few years ago. I think scouts, like me, grew up and wanted a less religious-based program. By then, you started having more helicopter moms, and liberal influence, and the dominoes just started falling. I think it's fine for BSA to have a separate program that allows for girl troops. The problem I have, is that they are gradually changing policy, across the board, in the name of inclusivity and equality for the women that are joining the program. The boys are going to suffer, because they are making changes with girls in mind. Why they can't just set 2 different policies for each program is ridiculous.

It's almost funny, such an obviously stupid move. Oh well. Personally I hated the cub scouts, so stopped going. Never understood all the dib dib and badge shit. I appreciate others enjoyed and got value from it, but loners like me just found it boring.

This is particularly true...in my case. I am mostly hard-working full of happiness type. After marriage, my soul got sucked away due to drama and other problems married to narcisstic and childish women. I got eventually sick mentally and physically. Took medical leave and eventually company got closed. Now I have no motivation at all to work supporting the family. I became more lazy and parasite (dependent) myself. Guys beware..,..if you really want to marry, vet the women and their family. Wrong type of women can literally screw your life.

The more you grow and full of life and happiness, the more protection and security you need. Otherwise it will be a trouble for you with women.

Just got back from dropping off my son who is a Nature counselor this summer at a boy scout camp. Doesn't pay very well as a summer job, but he loves it there. Last summer I spent 2 months at camp as a Volunteer Commissioner.

We had a couple of "sneak along" girls last year (which I assume were "identifying as boys".) This year, 1st time I've seen groups of girls at a boy scout camp. At this point... most of the girls are 11. Not many yet, shy and retiring; so not much influence this year. HOWEVER...

Stayed to watch the (few) campfire skits at their Friday night closing campfire (when I picked up my kid at the beginning of the weekend and stayed for the afternoon/evening program). Apparently, many of the "normal" boy skits got axed for being politically incorrect, so there was less than 50% of the skits left that the boys proposed after committee review. According to my son, on previous sessions they had a rash of skits where all the boys (in the crowd and on-stage) were yelling "Sacrifice!" and then "slaying the sacrifice." Must be a meme... (Thinking more on this; I might have started this when I was doing a schtick last year about "No sacrificing virgins to the Blood Sun... even if we wanted to!")

Even though we only had 6 skits, one still included suicide. Well; it's kinda par for the course.

With respect to the girls. I'm kinda split between the reject and the accept camps.

On the reject side I definitely support a boys/men only space for "boys to be boys". So, I"m sorry to see that go.

On the accept side I think parents of girls who had boys in boyscouts were jealous of the "camping, leadership, career exploration, boy-led, opportunity to fail gently" program that the boyscouts offer. Plus... boy scouts will train girls to camp and will innoculate them against camping adversity (bugs, weather, cold, exertion, "icky fish cleaning", etc.) If the girls make it through a couple of years of the program, they might be decently pre-qualified/trained potential "girlfriends". Certainly better than the general run of girl scouts - which mostly focus on domestic girly crap for their acttivities.
