We are physically capable of rape with our strength, but we choose to restrain from doing that. We hold back on using our strength. This could be applied to violence towards women. We restrain from hurting women by choice/social construct/morals/norms/etc. If you wanted to hurt a woman you could...probably easily but you choose not to. The same could be said about sex. If you wanted to you could really have it with most women. You choose not to, which of course is the right thing to do.

Actually from a biological stand point women ARE the selective bunch. Simply because a sole purpose of a man is to spread his seed as much as possible, to carry on his legacy. But this doesn’t necessarily change our fundamental biological nature. You can literally ask any professional and they’ll agree with me. Monogamy has thrived so well for the last couple of millennia or so is because it has led to the advancement of society. But you cannot enforce evolutionary changes in such a short amount of time or any changes to fact as they take millions of years to form.
There are true monogamistic creatures out there enforced by evolution but we humans are not monogamistic by nature therefore need societal pressures/influence to enforce monogamy. Thus my point still stands.

Yes, males do take care of their offspring but not the monogamous way you are imaging it.
One of the biggest reasons for biological polygamy is that amongst polygamous species; males are significantly larger in order for social dominance. You can see this amongst any primate group such as the chimpanzees ; 1 male hearding many females. So with humans, males are naturally polygamous. As a result you have a man who constantly produces sperm ready to mate at any given moment with any given female provided she’s within the group.
In a society where there are many men rather than a single alpha man. The female will be the selector in choosing the man whom she breeds with.
