I can save $20k a year and still spend over $2k a month on bills & credit card payments and I only make $75k/yr. If she got big promotions, she must be making at least that much.

if I could go back in time I would tell myself to stay the fuck away from credit cards. The amount interest I have paid could have been used to invest. Stay away from credit cards young guys!

If she was advertising all over Tinder or POF trying to get a man, I'd be all over her case, but this post isn't THOTing. She clearly either dated Chad and got shafted or lost the tingles for someone and they parted ways. There's an indication of child support payments, so it's probably not Chad and she didn't mention any "abuse" so not a hostile breakup.

Therefore, this is someone who's genuinely trying to work hard and is having tough times. This individual has my sympathy because the post indicates she is probably trying to avoid using her ex as an ATM even during tough times.

Besides, this situation could easily happen to one of us under extreme circumstances too...

This person is:

Not blaming anyone else in the post, just explaining what's happening
Not being too irresponsible, maybe a little but is at least trying to do the right thing
Not feeling entitled, is not asking for anyone to go and bail her out at all
Raising a kid alone. We do not know exactly why but that's the reality
Proud of the idea of financial independence and is driven by goals and self-improvement
Limited in the means to save and miscalculated the personal safety net, easy to do given how economics works

We can all attest to the fact that there's nothing wrong with wanting to go your own way. That's what she's trying to do now that she has a kid and she's getting an appreciation for how hard that is. She's not asking for any man to come bail her out and we should respect that as there's a buttload of people out there who simply refuse to pull their own weight and need to rightfully be called out for it.
