I actually love this metaphor. The game of tag is fun when someone is within tagging distance. The chase may be fun when you know they're right there within your reach. But tag certainly isn't fun if the people you're chasing are 100 yards in the distance and don't even let you get any closer. That's no fun at all and if im even gonna bother chasing someone it's gonna be someone who's close and able to be caught. That's what so many don't understand

I had an assignment in psychology class this year, the task was to teach the class something. I basically was asked to talk about conversation in 2019. The class then moved to the topic of game(picking up girls). I said if you like women you are in luck because they outnumber us. A women in the class said, so you only get the easy girls, because you don't want a woman. I said your wrong I want women, if one woman doesn't work I can go find others. But you as a woman don't approach so it's like you listen to your music on shuffle(with no choice but to skip), while I listen to music where I can choose any song, and make a playlist of my favorite ones.

I pursued a woman in college. She was online and had a boyfriend she was looking to cheat on. I messaged her and instead of having sex with her like she wanted, I spent the night coaching her on relationship skills and how to fix the relationship (Out of honour. I really wanted to fuck her). I asked her if she would like to be just friends instead (because through talking that night, I learned we had a TON in common and got along well). She said no. I respected her and stopped contacting her. I would see her around campus and say "Hi" in a friendly way. I'd ask her how her day was, but I'd never linger longer than a few seconds. Never held a full conversation, simply because I wanted to respect her wishes.

3 months later, she messages me saying she and bf broke up. She went on a date with me, fucked me, told me I was the best sex she ever had and the first time she came during sex, and then asked me to not talk to her after a week of gassing me up and gushing over me. I was heavily against this because she was basically my dream girl in every way. Once again, I asked if we could at least be friends since we had so much in common, but I respected her wishes. She wanted zero contact. I am absolutely heartbroken, but I do as she asks. No more messages. No more calls. No more dates.

Smash cut to a few days later, I'm riding past her on my skateboard as usual but this time I don't say "Hi." I just ride past after making glancing eye contact with her.

I get home from class to realize I have a message: From Her stating

"Hey, you didn't say 'Hi' to me today. ): "

Some men like the chase as much as, if not more, than the actual contest. I'd say it's a combination of ego, outwards display of value and social skills and, well, thinking that they must have sex with every attractive woman they lay their eyes on.

I get the appeal of the back and forth but, yeah, a line has to be drawn somewhere.
