This is so true, I mean, I got banned from r/mexico (I am mexican living there) by a cunt mod, I know she is a woman and she mainly banned me because I am subscribed to this sub and because I do not agree with her point of view about the new president here (I think he is just an idiot), she banned me because she said that I was being aggressive to everyone on the sub, but I just ask her what about user XX he is literally coursing every single person who don't agree with him, and she told me that "that is not an excuse" of course is an excuse, since the other one is toxic and a I am not, and she just banned me like that.

I reported her, I hope she gets what she deserves.

The big thing I think people are missing on the issues of hate speech, racism, and sexism, is this: People pat themselves on the back about our progress in being more accepting, and making it a social crime to utter anything about certain groups. We're rooting out hate speech, vilifying anyone who says anything that could be seen as prejudice. We're cleaning things up and paving a way for a judge-free future.

Meanwhile, being an asshole in every other way is still perfectly acceptable and normal behavior. "Wow did you see that outfit Becky has on today? OMG she is so weird...listen don't invite her to the next meeting" "Who's that guy over there that always stinks?"

In the workplace, in social settings, everywhere. People are talking smack about others all day long. And it's so ingrained into our routine, it is completely normal. I can't remember a day where I didn't hear some negative comment about someone else.

Yes, I find myself in meetings (people I get along with by the way, so my point isn't so much to complain about them particularly) attended by people from diverse backgrounds, races, and sexual preferences. The most accepting group you'd think. Sure, when it comes to our special groups. But all else is fair game, the meanness flows very freely. Not once does anyone seem to notice a contradiction.

Thing about hate speech and especially passing legislation to silence it is that it provides the ground work for the government to silence speech in the first place. From there governments change, come and go, but what happens when a bad government comes and uses that framework to silence all speech it doesn’t like? Also as much as I like this comic I also disagree with it because I honestly don’t think MGTOW is a hate group (the comic seems to support hate speech as free speech which it is but that’s not the point) I honestly just view MGTOW as a highly critical view of the state of things and I don’t think that’s hate. But of course we will in a world where truths that go against the narrative is “hate speech”

There’s no such thing as hate speech because hate speech is completely subjective how it’s being interpreted. In some countries making an argument backed by factual evidence is considered hate speech. It’s such a broad and vague term. “Something hateful” many things could be considered hateful while to other people it’s just being critical.

How hard is it for people to understand free speech just means you can say what ever and not be arrested by the government. It however doesn’t in any way mean you can say what ever you want and have non of your fellow citizens ridicule you for it. That is their free speech right. So me saying to some one “you are a piece of shit and I hope your terrible life gets nothing but worse” in response to something they said isn’t me going against their free speech at all, in fact it’s me exercising my own. How about a little critical thinking so people don’t think this group is sadder then they already do.

There is no such thing as free speech.

People advocate for it because it sounds very attractive; being able to voice your opinion and express yourself as much as you want without any consequences.. however you're still a human that would get threatened by other's doing the exact same and you'll take action against it to preserve your own beliefs and values. The same exact way how others will react and do against you.

People are only, and always will be, only capable of promoting speech to the extent of their beliefs and values.
