Thinking about getting a vasectomy. Who has experience and can give feedback?

I know 2 guys that have had it done, both said they regretted it. One told me "my balls have never been the same since"

I'm sure they are in the minority, but better than paying child support for 18 years.

Was it painfull?

Not me personally, but some guys feel discomfort.

How long did it take to fully heal?

Had it on Friday, and was back at work on Monday. Fully healed was a few weeks. Go in and have a test a month or two out to make sure you're firing blanks, though.

How much did it cost you?

About $800 IIRC.

What was your overall experience?

Better to feel like you've been kicked in the nuts for a weekend, than every day for the next 18 years. LOL.

Got it done shortly after my divorce 5 years ago. I already have two great sons & was close to 50 at the time.

Wasn't painful. He numbed my scrotum with a swab, injected a better painkiller (I think), then made a small opening & severed / tied off my tubes. He cauterized the ends & honestly the smell was the worst part. We chatted throughout. I'm a curious tot.

It was about $300. Took maybe 30-45 minutes from arrival to departure.

I never went for the follow up sperm test. I still need to get that taken care of. (They sell kits at drug stores.). Maybe I'll do that this week.

Post-op swelling / pain wasn't bad at all. I don't recall how long it was before I wasn't worried about it at all.

The worst part was the Novocaine injection in the sack at the start of the procedure.

Sack healed in a week or two (stitches dissolved). Balls were a bit tender over the weekend. It was a good excuse to sit around and play video games with a bag of frozen peas in my lap. WARNING The only bad experiences I've heard about come from guys who decided to get up and chop wood or carry cinderblocks the next day. Take the whole weekend off.

It took a good two months before I was 100% sterile. Had to keep going back with samples of sperm repeatedly.

Insurance paid for it.

Overall experience is that it was no big deal, and I'm glad I had it done. There's no difference in my loads or sexual performance.

I had it done a while ago. Super easy. Get it done on a Friday. Then sit your ass down and put a bag of frozen peas or corn on your junk. Get like 5 of them and rotate them out of the freezer. DON'T LIFT SHIT, DON'T CARRY SHIT, DON'T DO YARD WORK...just sit on the fucking couch all weekend. I've known several people that had it done that thought they could "man through it" and regretted it. It's a medical procedure. I don't care how small. Your body was cut into. Just relax.

Only during the cutting but it was super quick - like seconds.

Mine wasn't painful at all. The surgeon cut two small slits in my yam bag, snipped the wires, tied off the ends, and that was it. He didn't put in any stitches, or even glue the wounds. He just put a bandage on my sack and said "that'll heal up in a day or two."

That was on a Friday afternoon. I sat around with the peas most of the weekend and then went back to work on Monday.

I jerked off a lot for a month to clear the pipes, and then went back and got the "all clear" test and paperwork.

My insurance covered most of the cost; it seems like I paid less than $100 of it.

Overall: completely positive experience, and I would recommend to any man.

Tip: buy two bags of peas, so you can keep one in the freezer and keep switching them out as they thaw.

Pretty much gonna sit or lay around for a couple days. Got mine done right before the first weekend of march madness. Just take it easy.

half of my vasectomy was fine, the other half didn't numb at all. It fucking hurt but didn't last long.

Why do you want a vasectomy if you've gone full monk mode? If its to neuter your sex drive I don't think it will work as you still have your balls. Correct me if I'm wrong though.

Was it painfull? - The anesthesia was a bit rough. But that was all of maybe 8 seconds (that felt like 20). After that, nada. The recovery wasn't bad either. A few hours on the couch with a bag of peas on my nuts and I was gently walking the trails that evening. At worst, the pain was "kinda sore". Nothing bad. Apparently, if you have extra-large balls, it may hurt a bit more. I'm packing red grapes, so no real problem here.

How long did it take to fully heal? - A couple days. Schedule your appointment on a Friday and you'll be good to go by Sunday evening.

How long did it take until you were fully sterilised? - After I got the two-week clearance to start "clearing the pipes", I got some old-school Ivana Fukalot videos and ejected the last of the swimmers.

How much did it cost you? - I had it done in the USA. It was like $300 USD

What was your overall experience? - A minor annoyance at best. Would do it 100 times out of 100.

It was easy with almost zero time needed for recovery. My Dr. told me to stay home for two days for recovery. The next day I sat around until 10am and thought I feel fine. No need to sit home. I went deer hunting that day, shot a deer, loaded it in the truck, hung it and skinned it by myself.

Yes, fully sterilized. I had a gf try to baby trap me about 5 years after the vasectomy and I laughed in her face. Told her its not mine. I could see her face drop. Priceless.

I dont remember the cost but it was negligible. Especially compared to being raped with Child Support payments.

I had one over 20 years ago. No problems at all. No pain i took a few days off work. I was never tested to see if I was actually sterile, but its supposed to be immediate after surgery. The Dr. said not to have sex for a couple of weeks, and I highly recommend following that advice. I had no cost, I was in the service at the time - so I have no information on pricing. Supposedly the procedure is reversible, but I don't know how successful they are. Anyway, I would not recommend a vasectomy if you have had no kids. It may be something you may later regret. Your doctor will probably counsel you about it anyway, to ensure your commitment to getting the surgery.

Take your time and find a good doctor. Lastly, keep it confidential (unless you're married or in a serious relationship). They will know anyway when you suddenly stop badgering them for sex (while healing, that is). Good luck.

I wouldn't do it man. Your brain will know the difference once you become sterile, and it will affect your entire manhood. Your passions and your desires will become altered because nature will now see you as expendable since you can't reproduce. Society already sees you as expendable, but at least you still have nature on your side. It's best to let nature know that you still have your manhood should society fully collapse, and you are called upon to rebuilt and regenerate our species. Source: my dad did it, and he is definitely NOT the same man as he was before.
