My common sense tells me that COVID is triggering something long overdue: A correction on the value of most fiat currencies, primarily the Dollar - but probably the Euro as well. Not sure how the Ruble and Yuan would fare... nevertheless, this will evaporate people's savings.

Keep a close eye on the prices of basic goods such as bread and vegetables. Once those start to rise by 5% or more within a month, get worried.

A Great Depression-like crash is unlikely to happen, because the governments already back everything.

Probably what might happen is a lot of people drop out of mainstream society, stop paying taxes, stop voting, and stop giving a fuck about politics.

There are always powerful people with a comprehensive view of the world that they want to bring about. While we should all have a rational concern for what is now being called the "Great Reset," the likelihood of it being realized as it has been proposed is rather low. Our real concern should be the awkward and ham-handed attempt to implement parts of the Great Reset program, which are likely to have suboptimal outcomes. People will push back again being controlled in this way, but that won't stop the attempts at implementation. However, it will ultimately mean that the vision is not fully realized.

Don't let someone else summarize it for you. Let its advocates tell you what it is they want to do and why. Hostile summaries are likely to have an agenda behind them.

Rational concern means informing yourself, being vigilant, and being prepared for whatever comes your way. The more you master yourself, the less you need to worry about someone's unrealistic plans for the future.

Western countries are smothered in debt tens and hundreds of billions.

And we have had near zero interest rates since the crash of 2008 and crazy money printing yet its not enough to save these currencies.

A default or debt write off has been on the cards for years but I always knew it would never be called that. Some nice friendly name would be made up for the peasants, I guess they went with great reset.

Very interesting topic on this board! My thinking is a very serious crash, something to dwarf the 2008 global financial crisis, will trigger or necessitate the Great Reset coming on the backdrop of ticking $250+ trillion global debt bomb and many other economic indicators that suggest developed world are at a crossroads. This reset may simply entail a central bank issuing a digital currency after other fiats including the supreme dollar will implode.

One expert predicts the pending real estate bubble will be the event and funds from a person's private bank will migrate seamlessly to central bank account after the too Big to Fail Banks actually fail with domino effects rippling across sectors and locales. Of course survellience and control over your account will be the price in exchange for solvency.

There's a ton of ruin left in the USA. By that I mean massive amounts of resources, technology and smart people. So even if things go downhill you should be able to take advantage of it or at least avoid the worst.

The best way to do this imo is to keep the ability to be mobile. Rent, have savings, keep pushing for a remote job (or own your own remote business), etc etc. Take care of your health by working out at home. Literally within a day you could be hundreds or thousands of miles away from trouble. Stay away from big cities where literally every bad thing in a collapse is worse.

If you are worried about money then keep some cash, buy some bitcoin and diversify your investments using something like the Permanent Portfolio that's made to endure harsh economic conditions. If you have none of these then start. I highly doubt one day will be fine and the next it's Armageddon.

No historical precedent for this. Maybe after the WW1 the Reichsmark / Weimar currency plummeted but that was intentional due to overprinting to pay off reparations and debt.

The Ruble or the Yuan isn't replacing the U.S. dollar. Russia's economy is smaller than California and Canada. I'm not even sure if Russia can build a smartphone without importing parts. Except for ethnic Chinese - very few people actually hold mainland China in high regard or would do business there under normal circumstances. China is also accused of manipulating it's currency to make exports cheaper (so their unemployment is less).

BTW this stuff isn't news. 10+ years ago people were calling or predicting the Euro / Europe would crush USA.
