Ever since my mother spread rumors that i was trying to groom my 3 year old niece for sex I haven't felt much like attending family events.

People are still genuinely surprised that I am so 'stubborn' and 'still holding a grudge'.

Agreed to be in my friend's wedding. I'd been in them before and it's fun enough and the rentals are never too bad. Nope. He decides to have his groomsmen BUY a full-ass tailored suit and on top of that a custom shirt. Whole thing is gonna cost me 500 bucks just to be in the wedding. Last wedding I'm ever going to be in.

I treat weddings like wakes. I go there, eat and make merry and pay my respects to those on their way to the un-life.

I went to a wedding with a date once in the middle of summer on a very hot day (summers here are also known to be very humid). I said before we even got there that if the wedding was outside, count me out. The last wedding I went to that was outside was miserable due to it being in the middle of the damn summer.

Well, we got there and just as I suspected, it was outside. Thankfully the wedding was at a country club, so we sat inside at the bar and both had a drink while we looked out the window at everyone suffering, waving pamplets in their faces during the cermony.

After the ceremony, we finished our drinks and followed everyone inside for the reception. It smelled pretty bad inside from everyone sweating their asses off. I didn't feel bad at all. Anyone who has weddings outside in the middle of summer in a humid climate is an idiot.

I got invited to 4 weddings in past 2 years ..

2 of them i rejected to attend by telling the groom's who had invited me, that their relationship is shit ..wont last..and they shouldn't get married ...

guess what ... both of them ..got married ...unfriended me as a hater...and got divorced :D lol less than 1 year after their expensive weddings

blokes still wont talk to me till this day ..and i am not one to rub anything in their noses if we were to resume contact....

It depends on if there's a reception with an open bar. If there is, I'll go for the entertainment value. If your wedding doesn't involve alcohol, I'm far less likely to go.

Also, you get one wedding. If your first marriage doesn't work out, don't invite me to the second wedding.

For the health of my balls I don't go to weddings; the women and men there generate massive amounts of estrogen into the air and that will melt your balls. If you do go make sure you protect your balls. I have seen men after they got back from weddings--a little less manly, crazed unicorn hunters.

Weddings are just plain awesome. You have two people who are taking an oath with a 70% chance of things not working out. You get to sit back, watch the hypocrisy, drink beer, eat a meal and once the cake is cut you get to watch the show afterwards where desperate single women wander around trying to snare a man.

Go, have fun, don't fuck any women there, they will have psycho mode engaged and they know someone who knows you.

Since I got divorced I have only been invited to one and that was by a really close mate and I don’t take a plus 1, no invites to kids parties, it’s great. I get invited to lads nights out, lads holidays because I can afford to go and I can go. It’s bloody brilliant.

I skipped out on two cousins weddings both pairs of which are no longer married after less than three years each. One of the weddings didn't even fill half of the venue they rented due to people not showing up. I was ignored by the rest of my family for not turning up as a "punishment". Soon however my brother is getting married and again i really don't support the idea.

I was in a relationship maybe still are, depends on how you look at it. We have two small kids. I finally told her after so most bullshit that I am never getting married. So she is separating from me taking my two kids. I was thinking about marrying her but the constant negative calling because never would commit. So I'm the one to blame for this relationship fall apart. Why would I commit to something knowing that one day she maybe so unhappy she'll divorce-rape me and take the kids. She is worried that once the kids turn 18, that I'll leave.

I have always thought weddings were totally archaic and a waste of money. You spend tens of thousands of dollars for one day that will most likely result in the couple being divorced anyway. So much $$$, for just ONE day! I cannot believe people still do this. Before I was a realized MGTOW, I always declared that I would never get married. I felt like you can just BE with someone without having to make it official and have a piece of paper saying "you're married".

It is a tradition I hope to see abolished as time goes on. And working at a Hotel, I see alot of wedding parties. They are filthy, vulgar, loud people. Once saw a Bride rolled in on a wheelchair because she got so drunk at her wedding. No lie. Funniest thing I've ever seen.

Might be an unpopular opinion around here but I go to weddings.

If a friend of mine cares about me enough to invite me to a day they view as special, then yeah, I'm not going to let my ideology get in the way.

Marriage may be dumb as fuck but I value my friendships enough to put my personal feelings on the subject aside.

I went to one cousins wedding because I was 16 and I had to. I didn't go to my other cousins wedding because by then i was in my 20's and i could tell my parents no. I went to my brother's wedding only after my parents spent hours essentially begging me and my brother burst into tears over the phone when I said no. His wife now won't allow him to talk to our parents and it kills him. What's worse was she made him call them up one night and tell them, in front of her, bawling his eyes out that he couldn't speak to them anymore.

IMO you should go to these weddings if the people who are getting married are important to you.

The wedding isn't about you, it is about them. You don't need to get married, or believe in marriage, but if you care about the people and it is something they believe in and they want you there, go and have fun with them.

Live and let live. Don't need to ruin friendships and family relationships because you don't believe the exact same things as the people around you. Going to a wedding of someone else doesn't make you going your own way any less.

Just speaking from experience as someone who has skipped my fair share of weddings. It is one of the fastest ways to end a friendship your relationship with that person will never the be the same.

I’ve been invited to 2 weddings, for one wedding I was the best man of a close friend. I don’t believe in marriage but I’m willing to help a friend. I’m gonna be the Maid of Honour at my sister’s wedding. (She’s my best friend. I’ve been through thick and thin with her, it was her choice and I support her) I’ve never turned down them down because I deeply cared about the individuals getting married and wasn’t gonna let my beliefs compromise my relationships with these people, but I can see why you would.
