Look, this is all appropriation of wolf pack terminology. Why MGTOW philsophy fixated on terminology used with animals that are both far less complicated socially but also do not have long memories, I do not know, but if you are going to use this terminology at least use it correctly.
Alpha is the leader-breeder pair, male and female of the pack, at least until one of them dies, then they are replaced by a beta.
Betas are the middle area. They do much of the work of the pack, provide in some ways for the cubs, and females will sometimes rear young, and males sometimes sire cubs. Keep in mind betas can become alpha, and are often related to the the Alpha's cubs, so being a beta does pass on their genes.
Omega is the term being overlooked and probably could be used to describe incels and so-called roasties. Omegas do not ordinarily breed or replace alphas. They are what gets it in a turf war. They are often related to the cubs, so they still are passing on genes indirectly, and that's why they hang around. They get to eat last, but don't usually rear cubs. In some ways MGTOW could be a form of voluntary omega status.
I happen to think this terminology too simplistic to describe human behavior.
