There's a world-class chocolatier about a block from me. 20 years ago, they couldn't keep product on the shelves in the run-up to 2/14. I passed through after work today and was the only one in the store. The owner confirmed that the "men have vanished" -- and, with them, his most profitable holiday.

To be honest im not ashamed to be a virgin anymore. I dont think any of my married ex friends from high school are happy so i think i dodged a bullet. in the end my situation is becoming more or the norm sex is less of a thing with this generation

People laughed at me when I said that slowly MGTOW would affect the economy, well this is it. Men don't feel the obligation to buy women stuff on this holiday, and so they don't.

To be honest I never checked it. Mostly I buy some small gifts for my parents and my sister, choclate, Rafaello or other sweets. It is nice to hear it's coming. I will surely check it tommorow, when I'll buy something for my dad.

Off-topic I always thought that valentine's day should be celebrated more like in Japan.

I bet you know it, so only for clarification for new or young brothers not being weeb like me :) On 14th February it's a girl or a woman, who show you appreciation by doing homemade chocolate. Then next month on 14th March (the White Day) men, who recieved chocolate during the Valentine's Day are returning the appreciation also with chocolate or other gifts.

Of course "traditionally men return the gifts three-fold" :) But it's more managable to give 3 chocolates rather than 3 diamond ring.

I would also like to hear from other brothers living in Japan what does it look like in life, because I know only theory.

No it's becoming far more common as the number of single women increases and the marketers change the day to a quzi single love yourself thing. It's also that a lot of men are waking up to the fact that a lot of women try to start dating somebody close to the day just so they can provide shit for them and lots of men are not falling for that crap, there's still plenty who do but they are a falling number each year.

Yep, absolutely. I see this all the time. And they're usually older women say, in their late 30's and up. Same thing at the gigs I do (sound-guy); 80% of the audience are older women who are seriously pissed and ........itchy.
