Today I was talking with a fellow classmate of mine who is married but has no kids. He's in his mid 20s and she is 21. They got married when she was 18. They married after living together for 2 years. We're both in engineering and share a few classes and talk quite often so it's not like i pry to boost my ego. He's a really smart guy but he informed me that though they live together she does not work and they struggle to pay bills. He worked various odd jobs and now has decided on a career path while his wife is apparently "unfit for school". Not even community college. Suprise surprise.

Another classmate of mine who happens to be my lab buddy isn't married but is engaged to a woman who moved very far away from her family to live with him. He us ex military he's 26 and just purchased a house with his gi benefits and is also using it for school. She however does not work refuses to work and is leaching of her finances military benefits. He openly acknowledges this and even says she's useless and actually got pissed he didn't put her name on the house he bought. We all know why that is.

My question to you guys is why guys still marry so young even though it's 2015 and it's common knowledge that that is financial suicide? Are men just attracted to lazy women who happen to give them attention and sex and in exchange will pay to sustain their lives? The first guy is constantly exhausted and stressed and the military guy has gray hair already. I don't shame them nor do I support them. I just listen when they speak and ask myself why such smart guys with good career prospects put themselves through this before they are even 30? Thoughts?
