Why do men still marry so young?

Truth is most guys don't get alot of women. So when they do get one they do anything to keep them. Which means marrying them ASAP. Even if it means costing them their freedom and livelihood.

My only conjecture is that love^✝ makes you do crazy things. Some possible reasons might be that it was the first girl that showed the guy some attention and he jumped on that. Or, perhaps he thought she was a "keeper". Social pressures. Shotgun weddings. Both being "so madly in love" that they can't wait. I don't know, but I'm sure there's plenty of reasons.

During high school, I remember I was so shocked when I heard someone was getting married at like 18. (Still am.)

Also, I figure some women want to get married early so they can pump out lots of kids (fertility window), or they don't have to work, or I've actually heard that they don't want to be "old" when their kids grow up.

I imagine social pressure is a big one. When they start seeing their friends start to get engaged on facebook, cooperatively planning pregnancies so their kids can be friends, trying to one-up each other, it might make them push the subject even more.

But, what do I know? I could just be talking out of my ass.

We are designed to, you can find it in the difference between men and womens sexual peaks. Our sex drives started ramping in our mid teens this was to start child rearing while we were still in peak physical shape that we were successful enough at hunting to do it for two. Women sexually peak in their late 20s to early 30s even though their ability to get pregnant severly deminishes by then to keep men engaged in the family to finish off the back nine of child rearing.

This is why women who have put off child rearing until their late 30s early 40s have difficulty finding men to do so. Biologically men are over it by that time.

I did the same thing though. Married and 1st child before 25. Divorced in early 30's, then stupidly got married again. I'm a slow learner.

The promise of in-house pussy makes a man do really dumb shit. Of course, most of us don't realize that it's an empty promise until it's too late. By then, she's already gained 40+lbs and stopped giving head.

If I could go back and do it all over again, I'd say that I wouldn't get married at all - let alone that young. However, my kids are awesome, and I wouldn't pass that up for anything.

Because before they got married, no one took him by the shoulders and shook him. I wish they would have done that to me. I wish someone would have tried to pound some sense into me at 19.

At 18 I still had a sense of scarcity and a strong belief in oneitis. One of the reasons for this was that I had spent the last 6 years (middle school to high school) with a group of people who I was familiar with. Being in close capacity with certain girls for that amount of time and they had become a part of my routine and it was easier to think about dating and marrying one of them. Familiarity, I think, has a lot to do with this.

Also, I did not have the perspective to realize that life went on after graduation and going to college and being a part of the world would lead to countless opportunities to meet and interact with other women. It's easy to develop tunnel vision in high school because that is what you are focusing on and it constitutes your social world. I found it difficult to develop long-term plans in high school. Now that I am older long-term planning is easier as I am not confined to a limited social setting.

In regards to your classmate I would suspect that he got caught in the woman's tunnel vision and was not able to see past it until recently. It's easy to get involved and invested in fantasies and dreams, especially if the other person is someone you like and care about.

Why do smart guys with potential fall into the marriage/relationship trap before they are 30?

The answer is that women know how to use sex and manipulation to place a firm grip on a man's mind so much so that they are unable or unwilling to see beyond the fantasy that the woman has created.

Getting married young is probably a man's best chance of success. The best girls out there tend to end up married at a young age.

By the time your 30 about the only women left are single moms, already divorced trainwrecks, or they are losers..

When I think back to when I was in my early twenties, compared to myself now, I would have had absolutely no business getting married, and especially not starting a family. I have so much more knowledge about life, and so many more financial resources, now compared to then. I couldn't even afford a car for much of my college years. If I had gotten married then, the woman would have had to have been willing to have had an almost no-cost wedding, and a low-income life for several years. It's possible to find women who are okay with that, but not all that likely, unless a person attracts women very easily.

As much as it wouldn't have made sense, back then I probably would have been so happy to have found a woman whom I liked, who also liked me. I think this is basically why you see some people getting married in their early twenties. When I was in my early twenties, you also had the problem of lack of information. Unless you knew a lot of people who had gone through bad relationships, the risk of marrying the wrong person, or at the wrong time in your life, might not have been a major thought in your mind. At least such information is more widely available to people now, through places like this discussion group.

So young? Better question: why do men still marry at ALL? And why do men still have children at all? I don't know which one is actually worse for one's future, but I know that either one can be devastating.

Most men who are smart enough to not get married already got older first because most men learn by self-experience rather than prediction, analysis and watching the mistakes of others. Some men are much smarter but the average man is not overly clever.

My question to you guys is why guys still marry so young even though it's 2015 and it's common knowledge that that is financial suicide?

1) it's not common knowledge. Seriously: men, most, honestly believe that's wrong, impossible and that we're crazy for saying so. These guys are delusional and willfully blind to provable fact.

2) some men are so hard up emotionally and/or sexually they'll pick marriage just for that.

Are men just attracted to lazy women who happen to give them attention and sex and in exchange will pay to sustain their lives?

Yes. Women who aren't lazy tend to also be ugly as sin and have an entirely different bad-attitude with men because they truly don't need a man, short-term, to figure out money or working, just how to get babies and a large defense-guard when they're out together, especially at night.
