Awesome post. On a smiliar note. It's important to get kids started in this stuff early. They are smaller, weigh less and go slower speeds therefor harder to damage. Rather have a kid learn this experience then get older and be going faster.

A lot of fathers are like this, and it's healthy and normal. I knew a couple, where the husband was stay-at-home while his wife worked (he had lost is job just before the baby was born, so they decided that he should stay home for the time being, and find another job when the baby turns 1 or so).

Anyways, the father spent a lot of time with the kid, more than the mother. So whenever the mother was around, she was insanely paranoid and overprotective. he told that his son fell once playing outside, and he had to hold his wife back because she was about to run over and coddle him. Instead my friend told her: "Wait, he's fine. Just wait." A few minutes later. the kid was up and running again.

Part of the feminization of boyhood, is the over protection of boys, and disallowing them to be rough and tumble. They over coddle them, and make them afraid of risk.
