Honestly, the AI doesn't have a soul, but in a way it's a reflection of yourself, in this sense AI is living as a mirror or projection of your own soul, I see how that in the future will work for some people's companions.

There is enough demand in it to improve the technology. There will be a market for it. However, it won't take long after the commercial success and / or acceptance until it gets regulated. I can't imagine a world where individuals in society will have the ability to effectively opt out of systems that fuel the economy and provide future tax payers / voters.

With that being said, the only solution is to transact such products within a black market. It will have the same stigma as illicit drugs. That will be the proof of its success.

I don't find the idea of robot companions compelling and i wouldn't have one except if they were very good and inexpensive. I don't think they will affect womens perceived market value at all, because of social norms, reproduction and the like. However, i think it's good if they arrive because men in the bottom of the ladder will get some emotional and sexual satisfaction.

I think it could help with putting women back in their place. 50 years ago women were the housekeepers, raised the kids, and took care of their husbands. Obviously much of those tasks have been replaced by robots, but there are some things that AI can't do and slowly women will adopt those traits.

Now in today's world most people can't tell the difference between a woman and a wet hole. They have no personality and can't do basic old fashioned traditional womanly duties.

Absolutely. It's halfway there already. The two biggest remaining barriers are bipedal balance and making an android that can act and react in a socially appropriate manner. Neither of these are insurmountable. It's a question of "who does it first and and when" now.

Now an android with a fully-functioning uterus MIGHT be biologically impossible, or something that's too big an ethical minefield to be done in the open. I hope I'm wrong on this.
