I just bought a small house on the countryside. It's by a lake, in a relatively isolated area outside of a small town. Most houses around here are summer cabins. It took a few years of planning and saving to get it and I've done it all in silence, people around me were a bit shocked (though I can still take the car to visit them).

But it had to be done because I've had realizations that if I'm ever going to live this life and not opt out it's going to be done on my terms. I do not want to read the news. I do not want to small talk at my job. I do not want to get married or share anything on social media, I do not want to travel in the ordinary sense. What I care about is my house, my yard, going down to the lake and learning new things, maybe get into bushcraft.

Now that I've got my whining out of the way, I guess the point of this thread will to discuss isolation as a solution to our problems.
