Ditch clothes, fiction books, jewelry, etc. and focus instead on things you’ll enjoy as well. This is not purely selfish. Couples bond over shared enjoyment and ”experience” gifts will be far better for your relationship than a trinket or scratch n’ sniff teddy bear.

Find a nice dinner/bar cruise around the bay at sunset. Don't go for over-the-top, go for quality experience. Dress up big and make sure you get a good photo of the evening. Don't focus on the gift, focus on the date.

In short, ask yourself "Where would James Bond take my wife for the evening?" and do that.

For my anniversary 2 weeks ago...i planned for us to go skydiving. Then i didn't tell her until the night before. She refused to go, but no fight ensued. I went and had a great time without her. Went caveman on her ass when I got home. Best Anniversary I've ever had.

Maybe an activity date, something physical. Go indoor rock climbing, do silly tourist shit around Chinatown, maybe even a mud/obstacle run. Bike riding, kayaking also have there place as well. You can go with BPPs suggestion of lits of planning, but I get more traction when it seems completely spontaneous. I mean make it "seem" spontaneous. One thing old BP me did a lot was constantly ask "Are you having a good time?" "Are you having fun?" I know you won't do that. Good luck and enjoy YOUR anniversary.

My anniversary is on sunday. Previously I would not make a fuss of it and then try and plan something almost on the day because I waited for my wife to do something.

Yesterday I told my wife, our anniversary is on sunday, after church we are going to xyz for lunch at 12h00. Us and the kids.

My plan is as follows, she is not a snowflake and is not getting a super duper special day. I already planned it and informed her of what we are doing instead of asking her what would she like to do.

Last year I was out of town on the day of our anniversary and had a flower hamper with sexy underwear and a bottle of shampers delivered. Her friend put it all together for us.

Huge covert contract.

Now as a freshly unplugged male I am making an OI event of it. I want a nice lunch and the kids are there too.

Not sure how much money you want to spend.

Have you been to the House of Prime Rib? It's awesome. They only serve prime rib for a main course, and you order based on thickness. They roll out a cart with slabs of prime rib and cut the meat for you on the spot.

You could get a hotel close by for a home base and spend some time either exploring SF or go across the bridge to the Marin Headlands. Battery Spencer is pretty cool if you don't go out that way often. There's a ton of other WW2 bunkers out at the headlands that are fun to walk around. There's also a trail from Battery Spencer down to Kirby Cove that has a cool WW2 fort, and it's an awesome view of the bridge and ocean. There's also lands end on the SF side, the presidio, and Crissy Field. If you want to go a little further up 101 there's Muir Woods which is super cool.

Do a lot of exploring during the day, hit up the hotel to shower, do your anniversary thing in the hotel bed, get dressed, then get an awesome meal at HoPR. If you're staying close by you can drink without worrying about driving home. Shit I hella want to do that myself now.....
