Relationship Macros
In relationships, alpha traits are essential to keep her interested in you (remember dopamine gives them a thrill) but beta traits are needed to provide security and provisioning (oxytocin release is aligned with these traits). There are relationship outliers: guys who are alpha all the time and their wives stick with them. However, this is not the ideal. All alpha and no beta will not yield the ideal marriage relationship.
Wives should "earn our affection" meaning we can be beta providers for them, but it has to be earned. A relationship of 85% beta will also not work well as our wives will lose attraction to us (they will have lots of oxytocin response but no dopamine). They will love us but not be in love with us. They will love us out of duty, but not have sexual feelings of excitement for us. They will lack the Tingles.
Adjustments
We should adjust our relationship macros based on what performance we are striving for from our wives. This will be dependent on many factors, including where she is in her monthly cycle. Remember that as ovulation approaches we need to show even more alpha traits than we normally do. The point is only that we should be aware of what our relationship macros are as well as the need for periodic adjustment to obtain the results we are striving for.
Alpha, beta & stress
For most of us this would mean increasing alpha from our baseline, after all, that is why we are here and seeking help in MRP. Perhaps after a time we will come to recognize that our wives need a bit more beta on occasion. It's all about fine-tuning.
In relationships, when we are stressed, we also revert back to our normal. If you are a natural beta and are new to MRP, then you will most likely revert to major beta when the shit hits the fan. This may be outside stress (work, death in the family, etc.) or inside your relationship (shit tests from the wife or The Event). You have to resist the pull back to beta. Take note: the pull will be to beta and then beyond. Your natural instinct will be to comfort your wife, to do what she is asking, to succumb to her whims...all of this times 5. Like the diet, having a serious beta binge in times of stress will damage your psychological progress with RP philosophy.
You can read the sidebar, lift, and read the top threads here...but the real test is what happens when your wife stresses you. What do you do then?
Good alpha/beta & The Oak
Of course, most of us are natural betas due to our fem-centric upbringing. We were conditioned early on by our mothers, our sisters, and female authority figures in our lives (how many male elementary school teachers did you have?). We've found MRP and have seen the light! We are making changes and getting results! Excellent. But how far do we go? Remember that there is good alpha/beta and bad alpha/beta.
As Athol Kay says in MMSLP regarding alpha: "The positive version is that of an inspiring protector and the not so positive version is simply a thug." For the beta he says "the positive is the man who provides for and supports his family; the negative version is the man who gives away all relationship power to the woman and turns himself into her 'pussy whipped' servant."
But MRP says I shouldn't ever be beta! No, that's never been said. That would be foolish. Beta in doses is fine..but only good beta. What we preach is that whatever dose of relationship macros you are using, always strive for the positive. Do not be a thug. Be an innovator and leader of men. Do not be held hostage by vagina, be a solid provider. This is Oak.
Kay continues, "Alpha isn't about being a bastard who makes people obey him. Alpha is about making people want to follow you and pulling the attraction of women," and "beta isn't about being a weak man who struggles to please a woman. Beta is about purposely creating a place to raise a family and creating comfort in your presence."
So there you go. Alpha and beta. The macros for an Oak. The macros you use to comprise your family Oak are in your hands. Adjust accordingly to get the results you need. YOU shoulder the burden for your family. The outcome, good or bad, is all on you.
