A minor disagreement with the wife led to an insight I thought you all might appreciate. Long story short, I neglected to make a small gesture of kindness that she had anticipated. It was a simple misunderstanding on my part, but in her mind, it was a sign that I didn't think of her as often as she does me.

Of course, that's not the case at all. There are few things I do, professionally, personally, etc, that I don't do with the well being of my family in mind. That dedication is how I show my love for them. Like many of you, I'm a planner. I take the long view.

My wife, however, is the opposite. She has a laser like attention to detail. It certainly makes sense, given how many different tasks have to be accomplished around the house each day. So, it is through small gestures that she shows her love to me.

So, I've realized the need to pay a little more attention to detail, and she is working towards seeing the big picture a little more clearly. We may speak different languages when it comes to love, but things don't have to get lost in translation.
