So, one of my room mates girlfriends had a friend come over during the holidays. This friend of his, Owen, is a female by sex, a male by gender. Which is fine, I'm cool with that. I may not particularly understand such a lifestyle choice, but if you're happy, I'm happy. I did my best to refer to Owen as him and he throughout his time crashing on our couch, but the Friday after Christmas something happened.

Owen, and my mate's girlfriend, decided they wanted to go clubbing. They insisted we should all go, because it was lady's night. I made a passive joke about how it would be lame to have 4 dudes and 1 lady actually going to lady's night (having included Owen in the category of men going).

I was met with a confused and bewildered look by the two, then a look of scorn. It was explained to me that Owen would be getting in free, as is customary with lady's night, since "he is a woman" (their words, not mine). I was confused, and I asked why Owen wouldn't want to pay the cost associated with being a man, since he identified, acted, and asked to be called one. I was then told:

"As long as I have a vagina, I'll use it to my advantage in any way that I can. If that means I get free drinks, or into a club for free, it's not the end of the world."

This may not be the best subreddit for a topic like that, but I just wanted to vent, this has really been bothering me.
