I completely agree. An important note, though: these are the age-adjusted mortality rates. Age adjusted mortality can be distinguished from crude mortality, which only measures death proportions in a population. To reduce confounding due to age-related death risks across populations, age adjustment takes statistical measures to standardize morbidity/mortality across diseases that affect different age groups differently. If this isn't clear (I'm going off a class I took a year ago) here's a section by the New York DoH that gives a pretty good explanation of age adjustment.

This is true. It also brings up a very interesting question as to how we value life. Is this really less of an issue because it claims less time than other diseases? If that is so, a purely numerical comparison of Potential Years of Life Lost (PYLL) between diseases would be warranted. Here's a handy list from the National Cancer Institute which outlines and quantifies national data on deaths and PYLL. I won't say that PYLL is a perfect metric to use when comparing diseases' "relevance" or "deservingness of attention" but it doesn't mean that it shouldn't be considered fully.
