Some people don't seem to be capable of understanding the difference between a claim and evidence. They'll support anything that jives with their preconceived ideology regardless of the consequences or implications it has.

But back on topic, yes innocent until proven guilty. While rape is horrible, just like murder, it must actually be proven. It seems nowadays too many people jump the gun and INSTANTLY want vigilante justice against someone who was just looked into or arrested as a suspect for a crime. Keyword there..... suspect.

Too much erosion of due process in the US has origin in "keeping us safe." Most times, it's protecting kids from strangers, protecting women from DV, or preventing terrorism. That unholy trinity of legislative basis has done an awful lot to shred due process and many Constitutional protections over the years...
