Hello r/mensrights!

Often when I am trying to discuss men's rights or feminism, I come across the same assumptions about men. I am ignorant of any evidence to either support or refute them, but to my conversation partners these are "common sense" or "just obviously true". Such assumptions include:

  • Men have a higher sex drive than women
  • Women have a higher emotional involvement in sex
  • Men are more likely to objectify/ oggle women (eg at gyms, beaches)
  • "The paternal instinct is weaker than the maternal instinct" (or anything suggesting men make worse parents)

So my question is do any of these beliefs have any sort of scientific backing, or are they a product of cultural factors and expectations? Were these perhaps true in the past, but are now false? How do you approach somebody who holds these as gospel? Many thanks in advance

EDIT: oops- changed "worse fathers" to "worse parents"
