There's a trending post on UnpopularOpinion right now regarding paternity fraud. Many comments (including upvoted ones) are claiming that it is extremely painful for a woman to be asked a paternity test on the child, in order to establish the guy is the father. Despite the fact paternity fraud is arguably much more harmful than a lot of things that boys are routinely chastised and "re-educated" for. (Note: a lot of them are actually in favor of paternity tests and see the double standard and the potential harm, so good on them).

Singling out all men because some men do bad things is bad enough, but dare propose the same treatment for women when they have a few bad apples, and a lot of them get uppity and fear having their pride and trust shattered. Double standards everywhere.

sounds like you had weird parents man. Normal parents dont blame boys for why you can't have sleepovers / have separate bathrooms, though that isn't even the legal reason separate bathrooms were made.

When it comes to shelters the issue isn't that some men do bad things, its that an astonishingly large number of women who go to places like this just end up getting assaulted in some way. If overcrowding is an issue you can push for more, you can even push for mens only shelters if you want, but were not solving overcrowding by opening up womens shelters to men.

Jesus christ dude, that goes both ways, its not that men are sometimes bad so women don't want them living with them. People get along with and generally live better with people of their own gender, so they have a right to choose who they live with. I don't sublet my apartment to women. If there is a 'great deal' its cuz the man living there is taking on most of the rent, or a man/woman living there got a good deal. If its the former, do you expect a man to do this for you? why? and what does this have to do with some boys 'being bad'? That isn't the reason he wouldn't let you live there. And if its the latter than its not a gendered issue, again definitely not because some boys do bad things.

You are not a pariah when you are being treated the same as every other man, you were still welcome to have sleepovers with boys.

Sooooo so start, mixed bathrooms are actually a thing! :) i went to sweden one time and the bathrooms in the airports were mixed. they were like full stalls in a row and it was really cooooooollllll.

Boys and girls do have sleepovers! my and my friends, a large number of which are boys, sleep-over all in time, we are all super close tho. If your women friends are uncomfortable with a group sleepover then maybe talk to them about it? (plz don't get mad at them tho it can legit be a personal preference thing, the same with the bed thing some people are just uncomfortable with it and don't owe you anything)

If you feel oppressed by the way society 'segregates' the genders then maybe consider you are part of the problem. one in six american women (i can link to the stat) have been a victim of rape or attempted rape, and that means that even if we have not been directly effected, we are always on the lookout. better safe than sorry. If us trying to be safe makes you feel like you are being restriceted, then maybe consider how your actions could be making women uncomfortable.

Rape is a big problem, and I appreciate that it is a small number of men, but conder the 40% of people who think it is okay to catcall women because they don't get how it can affect us. Being catcalled is awful, even if you have good intentions it makes us feel really uncomfortable. These are not bullshit excuses, these are our lives.
