I got into a conversation with a complete stranger the other day.

She told me she was an artist, and that she had a show coming up in three weeks.

I said congratulations, and I hope she does well. She told me she's sharing the stage with another woman, and that's a real honour because generally there are more people featured than just two.

I again told her congratulations. I was actually genuinely happy for her.

Then she leaned in and she said something I did not expect.

"Yeah. And we're really playing up the feminist angle."

I raised my eyebrows and asked her what she meant. She said,

"You know this whole feminism thing is bullshit, right? If we sell the show as 'feminist art', we'll get more people coming to the event. Women will come in and buy our art and shit."

I had to do a double take. She continued,

"All this feminism stuff. The Trudeau budget and everything. It's all bullshit. It's a business. We're going to cash in on that."

She smiled at me. I exhaled deeply.

I thanked her for her honesty, and wished her all the best.

Jordan Peterson always suggests to look at the consequences of a government action, and imagine that is the reason for such government initiatives.

In this case, in Canada, hundreds of millions of dollars are going to women's groups.

This isn't about #Equality. This is about money*.

This is Big Feminism.
