Unfortunately it is not until you are adequately mature that you can even have the realisation that it is your preference or not.

Basically what you are saying to others is because you prefer it they should have no choice in the matter either.

As a person who is of age you can decide to either to do it or not, the fact you might find it an inconvenience is no justification to expect others to forgo the right to decide what their dick will look and feel like for the entirety of their life.

Healthy? In New Zealand where I am from most are not circumcised and our children and adults have better health than most in the world.

I like the fact that I am circumcised and I am happy my parents decided to circumcise me.

And many deaf people prefer being deaf. Does that mean we should allow parents to permanently destroy their child's ability to hear?

How? In the uk hardly anyone is circumcised and I have heard of literally zero health problems.

although you are an infant I’d rather be circumcised then than now.

You don't even know what it's like to not be circumcised. And why should your preference effect what happens to another human being?

If circumcision is that great, if having your foreskin is so riddled with disease and ugliness (it isn't), then once you hit 18 you can choose to have it removed.

Forcing a child to have part of their body removed without their consent reeks of someone having their own personal issues and inflicting them on another rather than facing up to what they have lost.

There's a reason why pro-circumcision people come on here and go on and on about how disgusting and dirty having a foreskin is. It's because you have internalised hatred for this part of your body that someone removed against your will. This protects your mind from having to deal with pain, anger, grief, etc., from facing up to your loss.

No one is stigmatising circumcision or attacking circumcised penises. They only say it is wrong to not give men a choice. Yet people who are pro-circumcision get angry and attack uncircumcised penises. It's very telling.

Firstly, you have no reference point for what it's like to have a foreskin, so you can't objectively say you prefer it, seeing as you have no memory of how your body was when in intact.

Secondly, while some men say how their penis "works fine" etc, for one thing it simply can't work exactly as intended after MGM. More significantly, all those men suffering complications tend to keep quiet about it, as men in society don't tend to shout about how their penis is messed up and they can't have sex properly.

Finally, there's one other group of men who dont' have a voice when it comes to their experience of MGM - those who died during or as a result of the procedure (or took their lives since due to devastating complications). Thus we get a false picture of the "sucess" of MGM owing to all the victims of cases going wrong being silenced for one reason or anther.

You are free to be happy with your circumcision. But others are free to not be happy with theirs.

Crucially, your satisfaction is not justification for performing it on someone else, i.e. a newborn. The standard to intervene on someone else's body is medical necessity.

The Canadian Paediatrics Society puts it well:

Neonatal circumcision is a contentious issue in Canada. The procedure often raises ethical and legal considerations, in part because it has lifelong consequences and is performed on a child who cannot give consent. Infants need a substitute decision maker – usually their parents – to act in their best interests. Yet the authority of substitute decision makers is not absolute. In most jurisdictions, authority is limited only to interventions deemed to be medically necessary. In cases in which medical necessity is not established or a proposed treatment is based on personal preference, interventions should be deferred until the individual concerned is able to make their own choices. With newborn circumcision, medical necessity has not been clearly established.

To override someone's body autonomy rights the standard is medical necessity. Without necessity the decision goes to the patient themself, later in life.

You were lucky enough to not experience severe nerve damage, accidental castration, or even death. Congratulations! There are individuals today with us that have painful erections and are unable to ejaculate, those with unarguably mutilated penis, men living as women because a slip-up, and children who didn't get to experience a week of life before a scalpel ended everything. Just so you could be happy with your penis, waving it around proudly to others who might not have been as fortunate as you, because it didn't happen to you so it's not problematic. So you feel free to shove it in their faces.

But since you're not looking at the big picture and stuck in a self-focused mindset.

Realize as you advance in age things don't work well. Your enjoyment of your partner WILL change mostly because you've lost much of your sensitivity to touch, might not seem important now but as women get older they don't stay quite tight down there. You start losing out, not because any change to your body, but to hers, so it won't feel as good. That's why there's all this vaginal rejuvenation getting popularized, it's mostly to please the man they're with. And older women don't produce the same amount of moisture, while uncircumcised men need less moisture (and cause less irritation to the vagina or anus for you gay guys) us friction inducing men will need to grab a bottle of lube more often than our uncut brethren.

you should certainly be allowed to choose that option once you are old enough to make an informed choice but performing this on an infant; against their will when there is no urgent medical need should be a crime. no "religious exception" should ever justify genital mutilation of a child. If an adult WANTS to have it done to themselves then they can choose it when they are old enough to make an informed choice.

Did you know that circumcision was nearly non existant in the United States before ~1890 when certain advocates (including Kellogg) promoted it as a means of preventing "Masturbation Insanity" - They cited some rather flimsy medical justification that was based on poor research as well but their main point was to stop Masturbation.

Why would removing the foreskin have any sort of impact on Masturbation unless that skin was very sensitive? How can you know whether it would have been better to remain intact when your option to compare the sensation was stolen from you before you were old enough to remember?

According to the site linked below, over 100 boys die each year in my country from circumcision complications.

Is this the price we are willing to pay? Some of us must die so that we don't have to wash under the foreskin?

It seems a lot of people have had issues with their circumcisions, which sound terrible.

I think at the very least, if people are going to do it, it needs to be done with much more care and precision so the person has enough skin left that they aren't ever uncomfortable.

I think it's a tough topic because there are plenty of circumcized and uncircumcised guys that wouldn't have it any other way. For example, I hear all the backlash here, but I'm circumcised and wouldn't have it any other way, so it's hard for me to think of circumcision as awful. However, it seems there are a lot of people struggling with circumcision issues but I haven't heard if anyone has had issues due to being uncircumcised?
