It gets harder and harder not to see feminism as a hate movement with shit like this.

Yep.

[–]omegaphallic 7 points8 points9 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Hope someone takes it to court this gender discrimination.

[–]furchfur 2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

it applies to both male and female undergraduates

My Response To Student Stupidity.

TL;DR - YUSU are ignoring academic sources that contradict their internal narratives - No Students can be made to attend as YUSU is breaking the law and has failed to have a registration with the Information Commissioner and can't do as the propose, as by law they are not allowed to obtain, hold or process "Sensitive Personal Data".

So the Inane Campus #RapeCulture Mythology, promulgated by Carceral Feminists from the USA, is being embedded in to UK Life by the back door.

Will the prepared material deal with the activities of females which are abusive and which should be stopped?

For starters, research shows “of 43 percent of high school boys and young college men reported they had an unwanted sexual experience and of those, 95 percent said a female acquaintance was he aggressor”

See – French, B. H., Tilghman, J. D., & Malebranche, D. A. (2014). Psychology of Men & Masculinity Sexual Coercion Context and Psychosocial Correlates Among Diverse Males Sexual Coercion Context and Psychosocial Correlates Among Diverse Males. http://doi.org/10.1037/a0035915

I hope then that the findings of the World’s largest ever Domestic Violence Study – PASK (Partner Abuse State Of Knowledge Project) will also inform the content of these compulsory consent and respect talks – Where PASK shows along with so much other evidence that Women are as aggressive and abusive as men, and women often instigate the violence.

2/3 of incidences of DV during a relationship break up are instigated by Women and Not Men. The Girls Need to be taught that they do not have the right to throw punches and objects just cos another person doesn’t want to have a relationship with them anymore.

Should Ignorance be used over evidence I will support anyone fining Mia Shantana Chaudhuri-Julyan, Lucy Elizabeth Robinson and Scott Dawson for peddling Human Rights abuse and sexism under the guise of equality and care.

As For “online reporting system for sexual assault” I do hope that all are aware of the need to meet all Equality Duties and to comply Fully with the Equality Act when putting such a service together …. as well as the Data Protection Liabilities Involved.

Having done a basic, quick and dirty search of The Data Protection Public Register of Data Controllers, I see that there is no relevant registration for YUSU – University of York Students’ Union.

I’m wondering how that is possible given that YUSU will be holding data for so many people and across so many purposes. I see from the published Data Protection Policy Approved by: YUSU Trustee Board on: 17th November 2011 that you hold and process Health Data – which would be required for the operation of “online reporting system for sexual assault”.

The Data Protection Act has been very clear since 1984 that it is an offense to process (obtain, hold, retrieve, electronically process or consult) health data without a Full Registration with the ICO.

17 Prohibition on processing without registration.

(1) Subject to the following provisions of this section, personal data must not be processed unless an entry in respect of the data controller is included in the register maintained by the Commissioner under section 19

SCHEDULE 1 The data protection principles Part I The principles

1 Personal data shall be processed fairly and lawfully and, in particular, shall not be processed unless—en the Publicly available ICO guidance of registration shows that YUSU should be registered …. so It m

(a) at least one of the conditions in Schedule 2 is met, and

(b) in the case of sensitive personal data, at least one of the conditions in Schedule 3 is also met.

It is an offense under The Data Protection Act to Process Sensitive Personal Data without an ICO Registration. Some have tried in the past to claim the Student Unions are charities and exempt from registration, but that is false. Even the Publicly available ICO guidance of registration shows that YUSU should be registered …. so It may be an idea for YUSU to get it’s house in order or every student will be advised to Boycott any and all supposedly Compulsory activities with YUSU as their personal data is not safe and YUSU is breaking the law.

I Do Hope some common sense and references help with academic development in and around YUSU. I’m Not Holding My Breath!

Sounds a bit like the compulsory classes in Marxism you have to take in Chinese universities.

[+]Hmmm_I_say 10 years ago* [recovered] (1 child) | Copy Link

What if the guys keep asking questions about how to deal with abusive/coercive behavior from women? Maybe keep questioning "are the girls being taught this as well?" They can make these classes more honest and force the presenters to deal with real issues that men face, or at the very least to openly admit how sexist they are.

My bet is on "he will be kicked out, registered as if he denied to attend and then penalized".

[–]WhiteThrone 8 points9 points10 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Soooooo... the university is FORCING students to attend consent classes.

And yet they don't see the irony.

[–]Tedesche 2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Misleading headline, OP. The consent classes are required of all first-year students, not just male freshman.

Not supporting the idea of required consent classes period, but your headline is still presenting incorrect information.

They ain't the first. I've seen this at local colleges and universities. Although girls were included in theses sessions

Women will be given classes to teach them how to defend against man violence and men will be given classes on how not to be violent towards women.

[–]furchfur 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Yes they are

[–]LRedditor15 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Where does it say that?

[–]furchfur 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It refers to those as taking part as undergraduates and at no point states it is for men only.

[–]Northern_Dancer 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Sue, sue, sue!

[–]dontpet 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Seems a healthy thing to me since both genders do it. If the content included a broad approach it could do a lot of good.

[–]Sasha_[S] 3 points4 points5 points 10 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link

It'll be the usual feminist lies and rhetoric prior to a series of events about the wage-gap and not enough women on corporat boards etc.

"The talk will be given by the current women’s officers, Mia Shantana Chaudhuri-Julyan and Lucy Elizabeth Robinson, and the aim is to have all future talks run by the women’s officers."

[–]dontpet 2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Oh. So the gulag sexuality approach. Should have known.
