The “biological men in women’s sports” debate has been a hot topic in recent years. Transgender women and girls competing in women’s sports has been controversial due to the thought that, because the trans competitors were born men, they have an unfair advantage due to perceived strength. Last year, Lia Thomas became a household name when she, a trans woman, won a swimming championship. Immediately, Ron DeSantis and others on the right heavily scrutinized her and the debate only intensified. Further, several states have barred transgender women and girls from competing in women’s sports. On the flip side, nobody raised hell or took issue with Michelle Wie and Annika Sorenstam taking spots on the PGA tour when there was plenty of available spaces on the LPGA tour. Same with Mo’ne Davis pitching in the Little League World Series. What do you guys think? Is there a link between transphobia and androphobia?
