"#MeToo is over if we don’t listen to ‘imperfect victims’ like Amber Heard"; Gross article denies Men can be victims of abuse & encourages people to never believe Men. Individuals such as this are why so many Men feel uncomfortable about opening up or seeking support.

Republican strategists and conservative media outlets shouldn't pat themselves on the back too hard.

https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/opinion/the-short-lived-female-military-draft

Congress has finally done something right.
As lawmakers prepare to vote on new defense legislation this week, they dropped a proposal that would have required women to register for the military draft, according to two people familiar with the negotiations. The move to include women in the draft gained bipartisan support earlier this year, but it was opposed by several key conservatives who saw it as an inhumane and unnecessary policy with potentially devastating consequences.

There was no real purpose in forcing women to register for the draft except to make a point about progress and how far we, as a nation, have supposedly come. But if progress means forcing young women to the front lines of battle, we shouldn’t want any part of it. That’s not social justice; it’s cultural degradation.

The lawmakers’ draft proposal was a case of “equity” gone wrong, and it’s a good thing it’s gone. A well-ordered society seeks to protect its women and children. What does that say about a country that purposefully puts its women in harm’s way?

It's time both parties start having a "man problem" as long as they insist on brushing aside any policy issues that would actually help men with equality under the law.

[–]mrmensplights 8 points9 points10 points 4 years ago (13 children) | Copy Link

The left hates and despises men. They actively preach hate and push ruthless and prejudicial policies design to subjugate and ruin men. Ruin them in schools, professional life, in public life. Meanwhile, the right has old style benevolent sexism. Neither is perfect, but the scale of the problem is totally different. Preaching hate is different from some sexist ideas.

Besides, men on the left shouldn't be fighting to include women in the draft anyway, they should be fighting to abolish the draft entirely.

There is an ocean of men who consider themselves left but have been drifting slowly right for years because they've distanced themselves from the democratic parties' hatemongering.

> The left hates and despises men. They actively preach hate and push ruthless and prejudicial policies design to subjugate and ruin men. Ruin them in schools, professional life, in public life.

So does the right. They just pretend they don't. Their false concern shouldn't be acceptable to men, it's more insulting than outright demonizing them and letting men know where they stand.

Let me know when there are politicians on the democratic side that are tweeting things like this:

https://archive.md/o1MGj

https://archive.md/cfakX

So far it's only republicans going out of their way to argue things like this. They did the same in the 1980s, proving they will never change and that men's human rights were never a concern for them.

The right doesn't care about men that won't get married and have families, despite knowing that a lot of men know about the risks of getting married and getting ruined by the legal system. Even then for the men that do get married and seemingly abide by their wishes, it's conservative family court judges and those in the justice system that argue in favor of more leniency for women and more harsher penalties for men, including longer jail sentences for failure to pay alimony.

Conservatives do everything they can to block equal treatment for men and hide behind excuses about "women and children"

https://www.tampabay.com/news/politics/stateroundup/gov-rick-scott-vetoes-controversial-alimony-bill/2273409/

Conservative politicians are also big fans of "law and order", which results in laws that harshly punish men, but again women are treated much more leniently by them when it comes to the same crimes so their policies result in a lot of men being processed through the legal system.

A lot of them want to make alternatives to marriage like prostitution illegal. Already Texas has in accordance with the Nordic model, made buying sex a felony (promoted from a misdemeanor) but selling sex to not be a crime, signed into law by republican Greg Abbott and supported by republicans like attorney general Ken Paxton.

https://www.click2houston.com/news/investigates/2021/08/05/texas-to-be-first-state-to-make-buying-sex-a-felony/

According to Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, Thompson’s bill makes Texas the first in the country to charge so-called “Johns” with a state jail felony. A second conviction under this law would enhance the charge to a third-degree felony.

House Bill 1540 passed the House and Senate in May and was signed by Gov. Greg Abbott in June.

Conservative news publications push ridiculous takes on pornography akin to radical feminists, such as the idea that porn is a gateway drug to child molestation and sex trafficking as a reason for restricting porn

https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2021/12/25/exclusive-jaco-booyens-pornography-is-the-feeder-gateway-drug-to-child-sex-trafficking/

Republican Josh Hawley is disturbed by men being "idle" and watching porn instead of having families, an anti-male narrative also advanced by right wing feminists

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2021/nov/01/josh-hawley-feminism-men-pornography-video-games

> Besides, men on the left shouldn't be fighting to include women in the draft anyway, they should be fighting to abolish the draft entirely.

Men on the left have tried to abolish the draft entirely. One of the alternatives in the case against drafting men that the NCFM helped advance was to abolish the draft entirely. Congress (especially republicans) weren't interested in that.

Your argument that men on the left shouldn't be fighting to include women in the draft neglects this point.

> There is an ocean of men who consider themselves left but have been drifting slowly right for years because they've distanced themselves from the democratic parties' hatemongering.

Correspondingly there are many men that are otherwise fiscally conservative that are sick of the tradcons in the republican party and them campaigning on gender roles.

Men that are distancing themselves from the democrat party and instead voting for republicans are doing themselves no favors. It's a situation of out of the frying pan and into the fire.

Republican politicians don't care about men, they care about enforcing traditional roles on men, which means they will do their best to block equality under the law for men and any reforms that would help towards this in the name of "tradition".

[–]Axleonder 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Well put together. The right have repeatedly hammered home that they are against equal rights for men.

Thanks for that, I just saved this for future reference when I debate a right winger/conservative

[–]mrmensplights -3 points-2 points-1 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Man, that's a whole lotta what-about-ism. I never said the right had any good solutions for men - actually I went out of my way to say they had problems. I'm commenting about the left because that's what this thread is about. Maybe you should actually read and address the topic of this thread.

[–]throwaway20210821 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link

> Man, that's a whole lotta what-about-ism.

Hardly. You tried to imply the right was better than the left and downplayed the discrimination against men by the right:

"The left hates and despises men. They actively preach hate and push ruthless and prejudicial policies design to subjugate and ruin men. Ruin them in schools, professional life, in public life. Meanwhile, the right has old style benevolent sexism."

"Neither is perfect, but the scale of the problem is totally different. Preaching hate is different from some sexist ideas.".

I provided reasons why this isn't true.

> I'm commenting about the left because that's what this thread is about. Maybe you should actually read and address the topic of this thread.

I made the comment on this thread that conservatives shouldn't pat themselves on the back for pointing out the left's problem with men when they are just as anti-male. You responded by claiming the right is still better than the left. I argued that this wasn't true and provided numerous examples. Don't accuse me of not addressing the topic of this thread when you chose to respond to my comment and defend right wingers.

[–]UnMascd 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Thanks for your comments man, the Left gets attacked on here a lot, which I like but for some reason the Right always seems to get away with its misandry

Even though I'd argue that while both our bad and far too simplistic to encompass the views of human population, I think its Right that's worse

I hope it's not the case but I feel like Right has somehow become synonymous with men's rights activism

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I fall in that group, I can never be a conservative cause I honestly disagree with 90% of what they do… but democrats/liberals have been pushing me away by the day. I always considered myself one but I have a grounded view of reality and know things aren’t black and white.

Nowadays though, it’s like if you’re not 100% with them you’re a misogynistic, racist (even though I’m black), elitist. I’ve noticed these terms have been thrown at me by people that don’t even fall into the category I’d supposedly be offending either. It’s too much virtue signaling with no real substance.

[–]Axleonder 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago* (3 children) | Copy Link

Get out, right-winger.

The right have voiced clearly and loudly that it views men as meat-shields to be put in harm's way and even die for women.

Neither the left nor the right are solutions for men.

You right-wingers act mental, the way you bang on about the left, when the right's misandry is called out. No one claimed to be for the left.

[–]UnMascd 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Just gonna UPvote you there.. hope that's ok :))

I will also add I'm tired of comments that start with 'lefties this, lefties that...'

Never in my entire 30+ years of life ever heard an intelligent comment follow after that sentence

[–]mrmensplights 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Your projection is showing. Please take this to heart: Men's advocacy doesn’t need partisan hacks like you playing team sports be it for the left or the right. I know politics short circuited your brain so you couldn't think critically, but if you read again you’ll see I criticized both parties. My comment focused on the left because that’s, you know, what this thread is actually about.

Whether you like it or not, party lines are dividing over gender. Whether you like it or not, the hateful and misandrist rhetoric from the left is driving men away from the party. The right puts men in a box and the left preaches hateful rhetoric. Neither is good, but the right is winning the fight for hearts and minds because the right provides something for men while the left provides nothing. The polls reflect that.

[–]Axleonder 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

You are a frequent poster in the kotakuinaction and kotakuinaction2 subs —two far-right spaces which permit white genocide conspiracy theorists to clutter up discussion, and which also ban you if you oppose white genocide conspiracy theory. Why are you lying by accusing me of engaging in partisan politics, right-winger? You are in fact the one who is projecting, when you say that I'm projecting and am being a 'partisan hack' and playing political team sports`. You're just talking about yourself.

[–]Razorbladekandyfan 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

They actively preach hate and push ruthless and prejudicial policies design to subjugate and ruin men.

Not as ruthelessly as how Josh Hawley fucked men with the draft.

[–]Kindly-Town[🍰] 9 points10 points11 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Biden has reinstated Title IX kangaroo court which expells majority of black male students solely based on accusation. 100 years ago, this same lynching of black men was prevalent. Title IX is doing the same thing quietly.

They only address black men because of votes. In the end they don't care about men. It's a common political tactic in first world parties. They only need to care about impressing feminist groups which then convince women to vote for them.

Men aren't really very united for their own welfare so their votes are second priority.

[–]Responsible_Wash_430 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Both parties have man a problem, just for differing reasons.

The left wants men to pay for women.

The right wants men to die for them.

[–][deleted] 11 points12 points13 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

I realized a while ago that the Democratic Party hates men. This is a sad, screwed up world we're living in. The natural order of things has been perverted. The elites are turning us into cattle. You don't want your farm animals working together! Each of them must be kept in a separate cage and nourished according to a one-size-fits-all program.

[–]JustaTcup 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

And let's all remember what happens to cattle in the end.

[–]user9347556765455678 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

No, its worse than slaughter. They work you until you eventually become lame, then they just ignore you. They just leave you there.

[–]JustaTcup 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I had a different idea when I typed that.

[–]thisismymgtowaccount 9 points10 points11 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Can't keep blaming white men for the world's problems and then expect those same men to want to be on your team.

[–]aigars2 5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It's also black men, so it's men in general.

[–]iamjesus1991 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Pretty much.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Nowadays they’re including black men in the problem category too.

[–]hehimCA 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I believe there is a big opportunity to get Democrats on board men’s issues. Seems tough but an opportunity is there.
