We all know there's an earning gaps, mainly due to a) the careers women tend to choose and b) the amount of time off of either sex.
On one hand, we could leave it as is- Due to biology, women will naturally just earn less, but can still choose to work "like a man", in higher-paying but more boring/dangerous jobs.
On the other hand, we could accept that women have a tendency to make less money due to biological differences, and simply pay them more on the dollar to compensate. I wouldn't see much of an issue with this if it were across the board, such as free marks on female-dominated career exams like teaching to balance more things out.
The problem with the latter solution is that, if employers have to pay women more, then they would obviously employ only men as they would be cheaper. A solution would be a quota, but of course, sometimes quotas can't be met as some fields are simply more attractive to a certain sex.
So, admitting that it isn't fair that women are biologically wired to make less financially rewarding decisions, what possible solutions don't end up backfiring? Thoughts?
