Despite this they still found 7-8%, about 1 in 15, were provably false.

In any case, about 7% of rape cases are provably true too, with the remaining 86% going into the "we don't know for sure" pile. Might you suggest that rape isn't that big a deal either, as it's relatively uncommon?

Regardless of how common you think they are, how many lives ruined by false allegations are "too many" to you? How many allegations have to be false before being concerned is acceptable to you?

So the article you link says that false accusations occur 2 to 10% of the time. Let's assume you did not misrepresent that intentionally (because why would you lie, right?).

1 false accusation in 10 is astronomically high, especially given what the ramifications are for the victim of a false accusation.

If we split the difference in the claim and call it 6% of the time for false accusations, that's a bit more than 1 in 20.

If I had 1 chance in 20 to win the lottery, I'd surely play.

False accusations are used today because the weight of the accusation, WITHOUT ANY PROOF WHATSOEVER, carries with it such tremendous negative consequences for the falsely accused, with such an exceedingly low likelihood of any negative consequences for the liar, that a rate of 6% is far far too high to be tolerated.

Really depends on how and where you measure it. For instance there's a claim that upto 74% of rape allegations are fake in India

They really aren't that uncommon, what's uncommon is for the false accuser to be punished.

They are proven and accepted to be between 5 and 7%

Interestingly the number of accusations that are proved true in court at about 7%

Seems similar to me, so if one isn't an issue then I'm sure you would agree the other isn't either, or should the conversation be about both.

What is scary is the fact that "oh im making up a bs story for xyz reason, so im obviously not going to report it. Just tell my friends."

My accuser never went to the cops regarding how i apperantly raped her. Could be because i had a broken ankel and it was my birthdayparty where she came late and left early cuz drama, meaning 24/7 surveilance on me.

She wouldnt go to the police because that would make the entire situation very uncomfortable for her. All my ex wanted, was 5 min of attention at a party.

And it's on the rise. This link shows similar numbers to OP, but that is actual cases. How many dark numbers do you think exist where innocent men gets absolutly destroyed over a rumor?

OP I think you are missing the fundamental point here.

The point we are trying to make here is NOT to claim that "False accusations are common" What we are saying is that when they DO happen they are very damaging to the man whom is falsely accused.

A man who is falsely accused of rape is a victim of a crime, yet in many cases he is never acknowledged as the victim and instead the focus is on minimizing what the woman has done out of the fear it "Might prevent TRUE victims from coming forward"

If we are not going to hold women who LIE about a serious crime responsible for their actions then we should be holding the state responsible for prosecuting a case based on false claims.

As one of the “2%” it matters to me and it should matter to you. Even 2% is too high. It fucking ruins lives. You mention “other crimes”. I’d much rather be mugged, beaten, robbed, whatever.

Let's face the facts... There is literally no data that is concrete evidence of any number of false to true accusations.

The only way to collect that data would be if the accusers, be it male or female always came clean. They don't!

These numbers are speculation.

False accusations do happen. If 7% of accusations are false that's 70men who have had there lives ruined out of a thousand.

I can't stand by and say that's ok. Nor am I saying it's ok if the accusation is true.

Are you suggesting that's it's ok to ruin innocent male victims lives, while letting female liars of the hook to protect every woman?

Yeah it does help you, as a male victim. Because, who's to say your own attacker won't accuse you of being the rapist if you press the issue?

Knowing that you'll need proof makes you keep the receipts. Observe the Pence rule. And take steps to protect yourself.

Oh, and yes false accusations are that common. It's just that most of them never make it in front of a judge. But you'll find more men out there accused of bullshit than not by some woman, because our culture encourages it and because lying is easy.

Don't be part of the problem by denying or making excuses for it.

those figures are accusations proven false. those that result in a conviction are about as uncommon (which is where the feminist "only 2% of rapists will ever see jail" comes from) and even among those many are repealed.

you can as easily reassure feminists by saying very few accusations turn out to be true

How did they come up with the statistic? Seems a false accusation has to come to light to be seen as a false accusation. Otherwise the false accusation is accepted as the truth and not viewed as a false accusation.
