It's not getting attention because she was not beaten to a pulp by her boyfriend or her date or her husband or her father. Her boyfriend was at the scene trying to help both of them escape. Her story does not help sell feminists' narrative.

[–]ProblematicReality[S] 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Maybe.

[–]Landjo 4 points5 points6 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I simply do not get it. Would a horrible incident like this not validate the rape culture narrative much more than mattress protests, manspreading hype, and elevating staring to the level of rape?

[–]RedditorJemi 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Their narrative has already painted white males as white devils. It's too easy for blacks to gain sympathy when society takes a shit on them due to the legitimate oppression blacks have already faced. Even though males of color are a target for feminists, they cannot demonize them within the narrative because of the blowback they would receive. They have to be more subtle in their handling of black males.

[–]mochacola 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Pretty sure if we get into the details, her boyfriend would be a victim too. And if they start interviewing, her parents ( inducing her dad ), would be a victim too. Pretty sure the criminals in this incident all had previous criminal records. Same thing with Mercedes Carrera getting no help from feminists trying to draw attention to juvie felons being released who invaded homes and gang raped women. In that incident, the victim's husband was beaten to a pulp.

Feminist need narratives where it is "date rape", or show "sense of entitlement", or "effort of class oppression", where there is no male victims from that incident. Criminals who are from the lowest disadvantaged ghetto class do not scream "oppressors".

Feminism is about selling products, and this one is a bad ad for their products.

Feminists care more about protecting black men than they do about protecting white women? Please. That's ridiculous. Almost every law and policy they champion affects black men even worse than white men. There's the narrative they've helped construct about "deadbeat" dads and the punishments for them (as ProblenaticReality pointed out); their narrative about DV; their denial of the assumption of male disposability (without which it's impossible to adequately understand gang violence); and of course "yes means yes" (more likely to be used against sexually stigmatized minorities).

Feminism is fucking racist.

Yes, black males are in the target zone of feminist policies. OP was wrong to say they are not. But they also don't fit within the feminist narrative. Feminists are very carefully trying to arbitrarily create a minority class of white, cisgendered, non-disabled males who are not oppressed within the narrative in any way. Of course, they are very inconsistent with this narrative, since they cannot get rid of their own bigotry which does, in fact, overtly attack both trans people and disabled people. This alone is reason enough for them to be very careful about how they use their narrative. Add in the fact that black males could find out at any time that part of their oppression comes from being male and that a whole lot of feminist criticisms of white males apply even more to black males, and you can see how it's actually very difficult for them to control their narrative.

More than that, I think, they arguably have a rational incentive for keeping black males discriminated against primarily because of racism. The more racism the better because they can use it in their narrative to drown out misandry against black men.

EDIT: Not sure if that's what you were saying in the first place but thought I'd at least expand the point.

No, I wasn't saying that. Good point.

nothing surprises me anymore when it comes to feminism.

I'm glad to see all the "white knights" for Al Sharpton are getting downvoted into oblivion. When it comes to the rights of men we should never, and I mean NEVER start playing the feminist game of "bu...bu...but oppreshun!" It will never work in our favor.

Yes, the boyfriend approached the car and started a fight, that is what the article said, but "starting a fight" in this scenario could have been a simple, "Hey get away from my car!"

This is VASTLY different than the case of the woman walking in NY for 10 hours. These are not persons of color telling a girl to have a beautiful day as she walked by. No. This is a woman sitting in a car, minding her own business, with a GROUP of them surrounding the vehicle.

The writer of this article is 100% correct. You will never see feminism say a damn word when it comes to black on white violence against females. You will not see them say a damn word when it comes to black on white rape. Not a damn word.

When we, as men, start to pull the same bullshit excuses that feminists typically pull to try and make an attack seemed justified then we sure as hell are not any better.

Black, White, Arabic, Mexican...it doesn't matter. If someone commits a crime they should be called out for it. The problem here is feminists ONLY WANT THE POWER THEY THINK WHITE MEN HAVE. They want the power 1% of this nation has, and apply to everyone who looks like the 1%.

Other races? Well they seem to get a free pass.

[–]FastFourierTerraform 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

feminists ONLY WANT THE POWER THEY THINK WHITE MEN HAVE

Bingo. This is also how they justify the bullshit they pull, because they ASSUME white men do it. HR people will constantly favor the women, because in their mind, they're just balancing out how men always favor each other... except that doesn't really happen.

[–]Turn_Coat -1 points0 points1 point 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

... let's put it this way: Boyfriend should have been armed. Boyfriend should have been ready to kill. Boyfriend should have put them down like the animals they were...

Then we could have a wonderful trayvon martin style court battle for the next six months.

There is not a single such message in this entire post, at any score level.

Asinine, idiotic, and you sound like you're channeling David Duke.

Asinine, idiotic, and you sound like you're channeling David Duke.

I think he's right though. The feminist narrative is directed primarily against white males, and they'll do anything to keep that narrative going. If it was white males who did this, it would definitely be all over the news. Similarly, feminists in europe still deny that there is an epidemic of rapes being committed by muslims against non-muslims, including child rape.

That being said, feminists also do not speak out against judicial and police violence that gets directed against black males. This is a real phenomenon that is also inconvenient for their narrative. If it were to be brought up, the inconvenient fact that this gets directed specifically at black males would soon follow. They engage in whatever editing tricks are necessary to keep their narrative going, and the news media helps them.

Nice article BTW.

I doubt the boyfriend will ever feel like he escalated it by instigating the fist fight, causing the incident.

[–]akbyouandme 2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

He actually stated that he felt he was partly to blame in an interview.

[–]DavidByron2 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Oh my god what a ridiculous article.

Women may be a protected class for SJWs, but skin color trumps all.

I'll believe that when SJWs start to post stories condemning the practice of arresting black men for non payment of child support. Or condemning the way black men get separated from their kids instead of just calling them deadbeats.

Stop trying to make "whites are treated worse than blacks" happen. That is just fucking stupid.

In any case there ARE stories about her being attacked and they ARE fucking stupid feminist crap.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3182354/Horrific-injuries-suffered-girl-attacked-gang-catcalling-men-wearing-bikini-way-beach.html

Horrific injuries suffered by teenage girl attacked by gang of catcalling men for wearing a bikini on way back from the beach with her boyfriend

That's right folks she was attacked for wearing a bikini which is incredibly rare at the beach of course so no wonder they singled her out for attack.

Her boyfriend heard the comments and approached the men, starting a fight.

They didn't attack him, they attacked her of course. Because "bikini".

[–]PM_ME_PHAT_CORNDOGS 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I donated to the gofundme because it's pretty close to the target and well, I want to make a point to feminists that MRAs in no way condone violence against women. Or anyone for that matter.

[–]akbyouandme 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The guys who did this are probably feral. This is hardly an example of someone getting a free pass, though. The reason people aren't frothing at the mouth to make a huge deal out of it is because the victim forgave her attackers. She came out openly stating that she just wants peace and love. The pitchforks would have been out in full force had she been angry and called for justice.

Her forgiving her attackers makes this incident boring. Most of the people that still seem to be fixated on this story are focusing on the race aspect. That aspect never get boring... for some.

ITT: See how blacks get a free pass. It's actually counter-productive to try to paint a scenario where white men somehow come out on the bottom when compared to black men. It's not white knighting to admit that a lot of issues that men face are more severe for minorities. This stance is illogical and, as stated before, counter-productive.

People get passes all the time, it just so happens that the pass was given by the woman who was the actual victim. If she can let it go then so can you.

I guess she forgot to check her white privilege.

https://www.law.umich.edu/newsandinfo/features/Pages/starr_gender_disparities.aspx

After controlling for the arrest offense, criminal history, and other prior characteristics, "men receive 63% longer sentences on average than women do," and "[w]omen are…twice as likely to avoid incarceration if convicted." This gender gap is about six times as large as the racial disparity that Prof. Starr found in another recent paper.

Black men receive longer sentences than white women (Of course, so do black women), so I find fault with the claim that "skin color trumps all".

Yesterday one of my friends emailed me an article on a young woman from Louisiana who was horribly disfigured in an attack by a group of men who she had been resisting the catcalling of. Her name is Jessica Byrnes, and she was beaten with a steel pipe at a gas station her and her boyfriend had stopped at after leaving the beach – The steel pipe was later thrown through their car window while they were trying to make a hasty escape, breaking out several of Jessica’s teeth.

This girl was being shamed for what she was wearing, catcalled, and then was violently attacked for trying to say ‘no means no’… That’s like… half of the feminist playbook right there. Yet there’s no real outrage from feminists to be seen, and upon further inspection of the situation, one can see the reason why.
