It is hypocritical. Gosling was nominated for best supporting actor, a female supporting acyress, America Ferrera, was also nominated.

There were several female actresses who were nominated over Robbie including Annette Bening, Lily Gladstone, Sandra Hüller, Carey Mulligan and Emma Stone.

The fact other women were nominated over Margot Robbie isn’t sexism.

The majority of people who watched Barbie were women and in saying that wouldn’t the majority of people nominating actors/actresses for these awards be women also. Gosling didn't get nominated over Robbie. They aren't even in the same category. Gosling in that film was a supporting actor and Robbie was the main actress.

I'm just going to say it: the fact that they can't shut the fuck up about the Barbie movie just shows how soulless and pointless their entire movement has become. Imagine taking a movie about a doll that feminists were shrieking at for reinforcing impossible beauty standards in the 1990s and turning it into a feminist movie in order to get stupid millennial women to start buying the dolls again.

Like, I can't be the only person who noticed this, right? That Barbie has been a hot controversy for feminists for over 3 decades, and then a movie painting her as a feminist hero comes out? I mean if you think that this is a tin foil hat theory that's fine, but do keep in mind that Barbie sales shot up after the release of the movie.

I’ve said before that people are stupid if they think it’s sexist Margot Robbie didn’t get nominated considering it’s other women who are getting nominated instead of her. And it’s not like big popular movies usually get nominated anyways.

NFL fans blaming or harassing Taylor Swift for the attention the NFL gives her when she attends is also pretty stupid. She’s just showing up to see Travis Kelce, it’s the NFL that’s trying to make money off the craze and rope in her fans, blame them.

I don't care about the Oscars myself. But I watched an episode of Brett Cooper episode about the situation recently and it seems that Barbie, Greta and Margot was nominated for a bunch of Oscars. So I find it weird that people are complaining about Ryan Gosling and ignoring the other nominations. Talk about ignoring the forest for the single tree lol

The only award snubb that might be reasonable to complain about is director. The barbie character didn't have that much to work with. I think Margot robbie did great in the role, but it wasn't Oscar worthy.

I don't really get what's going on here. There are five nominees for Best Actress, just as there always are. Listening to the reaction to this you'd think that they'd abolished the category and banned women from competition altogether. With that in mind, I suspect Annette Bening, Lily Gladstone, Sandra Huller, Carey Mulligan and Emma Stone would love to hear why their nominations were somehow improper.

The position here appears to be that Barbie is a feminist movie, which is a questionable proposition in the first place, and as such it should automatically win awards.

That said, I would love to see what happens if Lily Gladstone doesn't win, because if it's not okay that Margot wasn't nominated, it's probably not going to be okay if Lily doesn't win, being a - what's the term - woman of colour, despite being half-white by heredity and objectively paler than Leo in every one of the many press photos in which they're featured together. Honestly, it sickens me that this is even a subject of discussion, but it is.

Urgh, this soft-fascism-of-the-new-left stuff gives me a migrane, it really does.

We can see how schizophrenic, hypocritical they are and how their fragile female ego shows. This toxic feminism is everywhere, so gross that they got Ryan to apologize for getting a prize for their own desperation when they literally lost to other WOMEN, and still managed to blame it on patriarchy and men. Their victim mentality and extremely hypocritical shameless misandry is why they'll keep getting a backlash. The U.S. is unsavable.
