Gender pay gap???

In the U.S., it’s illegal under the equal pay act to payment less for the same, equal work. The “pay gap” as measured by the Bureau of Labor Statistics is actually an earnings gap. It’s simply a comparison of men’s median income compared to women’s. Studies show it’s due to factors such as women working fewer hours per week, women taking time out of the work force and men choosing higher income potential jobs to support family.

So, if we want to eliminate the earnings gap, we need to get women to work more hours, to not take time out of the workforce and to pursue harder, more dangerous and more lucrative jobs.

Yeah there was a car company that tried to run ads about the wage gap, and they had to stop because the car companies tax numbers showed a similar wage gao they were complaining about, same thing happened with obama.

Let's also bridge the social responsibility gap and draft women to defend our country.

I'm SO tired of them saying that they deserve the same pay as men when they provide no where NEAR the same level of service to our country that men do.

There is no such thing as a gender pay gap in the western world. If it were legal to pay women less than men for the same work, nobody would hire men, period. After you control for everything, you find that any differences in pay are within the limits of the error in the calculations and estimates.

You do see a gender based earnings gap over lifetime but that is related to women and men choosing different professions, women working fewer hours and years, etc.

In other words, the earnings gap (which is not a PAY gap) is about CHOICES made by the genders.

If someone in the west wants to make an argument about a pay gap in some 3rd world shithole, let them, but stop them when they suggest that it applies outside of 3rd world shitholes.

It’s people getting paid to advocate a certain position so of course they don’t care if it’s true; if you word it correctly it’s not even false just misleading. Hesta is more of an investment company for pensions and the insurance is more about insuring your income if you get disabled or die. Legally wasting money on stupid advocacy campaigns violates their fiduciary duty to investors, but of course they get away with it if they support the “right” causes.

In Australia the gender "gap" in average hourly rates of pay is 1.1%. It costs half as much as our Medicare Levy which nobody even notices.

I'm a tax consultant in Australia and have spent my life calculating others' incomes to earn my own. There is no real gender wage gap in this country.

Wanna fix gender pay gap? Bring wealth tax, ban having more than 10 million dollars, and the pay gap will be fixed, currently everybody except the rich, are working for pennies

The gender pay gap does not come from a raw salary v salary computation but from the social norms and perceptions of women that directly limit their earning potential and financial capacity.

Women often have to take care of kids, are discriminated on in hiring, are the most impacted by pregnancy, are often saddled with the majority of care work, and are more likely to work part time to meet all these expectations while making an income as opposed to a man who only has to work and can do overtime and all the such because they have less responsibility beyond dropping cash at the table.

TLDR: Women are often expected to do more than paid work, thereby reducing their capacity to engage in paid work and putting them at a disadvantage compared to men.

This is why in gender gap calculations there is an adjusted and unadjusted measure.

Often bridging the gap has less to do with giving women more money and instead giving them more equable conditions or implementing policy to ensure that all the stuff I mentioned above impacts their career and financial prospects less.

Think, more affordable daycare services so the woman can work for longer or better maternity benefits and protections to ensure that mothers wont be impacted as much by their pregnancy and can quickly recover and re-enter the workforce. Ie. Giving women more time to work as opposed to her having less time to work because the kids have to be picked up and grandma needs to go to a checkup vs the husband who only has to clock in and clock out to a warm hot meal.

That’s why they say “Average” pay not the same pay for the same job. Guys just happen to work higher paying jobs. Women in the same fields get the same amount of men it’s just the “Average” overall
