whatever it takes to sell those razors
[–]xNOM 26 points27 points28 points 6 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Yeah that was the previous ad campaign. The new people are doing whatever it takes to drive the business into the ground.

When one hires a hard core feminist CEO, a hard core feminist Ad Exec, you get not equality, but reversal of what they themselves claim to exist to end. It is what we are seeing every time some radical feminist gains power...immediately using that power to attack all things male, like an angry little girl that has found her daddy's gun.
...and everyone knows it. Forty million men spoke out against it, but they continue to push on with fully hypocrisy and hate like a race car running on hydrazine.
FUBAR (Fucked up beyond all recognition).

We should wait for Gillette to be grounded a d then buy off all IP and legal rights from P&G then hire some body who actually knows what they're doing
[–][deleted] 65 points66 points67 points 6 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link
They just lost $8 billion on Gillette.
[–]MidWestMind 17 points18 points19 points 6 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link
To be fair the last 12 quarters they lost money on all but 1. That woke add was a way to turn that around but backfired.

Get woke go broke
[–]techtesh 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
More like get woke go broke but quicker
[–]biggguy 6 points7 points8 points 6 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
As an accountant friend of mine said, if you're showing taxable profit you should get another accountant as your current one is clearly incompetent.
[–]MidWestMind 8 points9 points10 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
That is true. I have family that runs a scrap yard, right before the crash when scrap prices were high af, they built a big ass truck bay to wash their semis. With all the amenities they could add. Big bay doors, locker room, showers, etc.
Why? Because it lowered their profit enough that the tax savings nearly paid for that building.
[–]hatefulreason 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
that basically explains capitalism :)
[–]hippo_canoe 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
To be faaaaiiiirrrrr. To be fair.

Edit: Just got a pm about the reference, I didn’t know. r/whoosh on myself.
If Gillette was doing good and released the commercial. It would be a “get woke go broke”.
As much as I love shitting on companies take a shit after getting woke, this isn’t exactly the same.

Im glad they are loosing money
[–]godworksout 23 points24 points25 points 6 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
I like how they blamed it on men not shaving anymore rather than on their failed political agenda.
[–]Heil_S8N 13 points14 points15 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
they actually simultaneously blamed it on their advert and said it's worth the loss.
[–]LongjumpingChance 11 points12 points13 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
its worth it? ok then lets all never buy gillette products ever again
[–]jackblack2323 2 points3 points4 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Haha it just so happened to be last year. Suuure
[–]justthrowmeout 5 points6 points7 points 6 years ago* (2 children) | Copy Link
I'd like to join the earnings call and inquire if their ad about calling their demographic animal rapists might have contributed to the loss.
[–]0utbox 5 points6 points7 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
We both know what the real deal was... I stoped buying there products as soon as I saw that...
[–]girlwriteswhat 2 points3 points4 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Yeah, I'm annoyed. I convinced my youngest (17-m) to switch from Old Spice to Axe, but I can't bring myself to switch from Cascade to the other thing my store has that leaves my dishes covered in remnants of egg yolk and BBQ sauce.
That said, everything we can get that isn't P&G, we do.

$ shave club
[–]-Noxxy- 16 points17 points18 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Dollar shave club literally just repackages generic Chinese brand razors. Only found out when I saw the exact same handles and cartridges at a fraction of the cost at Aldi.
[–]jackblack2323 17 points18 points19 points 6 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
Does anyone else just buy cheap grocery store brand razors and use the same $4 pack of 12 for like a year
[–]imlookinup 5 points6 points7 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
My leg hair just cringed.
[–]CttCJim 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
i got a 100 pack of safety razor blades on amazon years ago and have barely dented it. learn to shave like your grandpa.
[–]BennieTheGreat00 24 points25 points26 points 6 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link
Gillete might as well just sell their products to women. It's CLEAR that they cater to women and COMPLETELY ignore men.
[–]MRA-automatron-2kb 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link
Those are the ads I see on TV showing women with C section scars and other female body pride using their razors.
[–]bananasmatter 3 points4 points5 points 6 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
What's the deal with C sections?
[–]mgtowolf 3 points4 points5 points 6 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
Some women like to shame other women that got c-sections, saying they are not real mothers. Real mothers push the baby out of the vagina, they need to man up. Shit like that.
[–]bananasmatter 2 points3 points4 points 6 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
Ah, I'd agree with that if someone got a c-section not out of necessity but out of "Oh no, I don't want to feel any pain" or even worse: "My baby needs to be born on 22th November at 22:22 so he can be a Lion with ascendent to Rose".
[–]2717192619192 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
C-sections are extremely painful.
[–]bananasmatter0 points 6 years ago* [recovered] (1 child) | Copy Link
You are anesthetized. They're not painful.
[–]girlwriteswhat 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
The recovery is awful and painful, according to friends who've done both natural birth and c section.
It also makes breastfeeding harder to establish, if it's a scheduled one, because it shocks and traumatizes the baby (labor starts via a release of hormones BY the baby when it's ready, and the process of labor and passage through the birth canal performs a multitude of functions, such as pushing fluid out of the respiratory tract).
NO ONE does it to avoid pain or inconvenience unless their doctor lies to them about the reality of dozens of staples and multiple layers of sutures, as well as the documented difficulty in establishing breastfeeding.
C-section should be considered an option of last resort. And unfortunately, due to certain realities regarding profit and legal liability, it's pushed by doctors more than it should be.
[–]TracyMorganFreeman 6 points7 points8 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
They don't actually care. They were trying for each good will.
[–]Bestprofilename 18 points19 points20 points 6 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
What is the date of this pic? If it's pre the advert we can't call them hypocrites. Would be funny af if it's after.
[–]BlairResignationJam_ 33 points34 points35 points 6 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link
Looks like it says 2011 at the top, but hard to tell as it has been conveniently cropped out. Typical for these sort of mindless propaganda “memes”
[–]Bestprofilename 2 points3 points4 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Well spotted. At best it's 2017 and didn't the advert come out in 2018 or something? Fake news from OP.
[–]something_new 5 points6 points7 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
It is, and as far as I remember, it's a promotion done by the Dutch Gillette, in The Netherlands
[–]conradfart 8 points9 points10 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
They're still hypocrites. There would be no issue if they made an advert calling out and apologizing for their own past sexist behaviour. Instead they decided it was their place to lecture "toxic men" in a move that makes as much sense as appointing Adolf Hitler your corporate anti-Semitism lead.
[–]MarsNirgal 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Even if it's after, if those women are okay with being watched and objectified it would be a bit odd, but not necessarily full blown hypocrisy.
[–]LuckyLock115 4 points5 points6 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Ooo la la I mean they are hypocrites
[–]xxcups 2 points3 points4 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Hey Gillette, be better.
[–]bluemerilin 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
It’s always funny when otherwise successful companies presume that they matter more than the product we buy from them. The strategy is either completely naive or it is malicious.
[–]huxepenner 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I hope they don't recover from their losses.

[–]undergroundman646 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Is there an article? What event is this and when?
[–]MRA-automatron-2kb 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
The date in the upper right side says April 2011
[–]ARootie1 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
