The problem is that health and cars aren't really comparable, on account of health being a bad fit for the insurance model. Everyone gets sick and everyone gets hurt eventually. you can make a case for it based on the idea that people get different amounts of sick, and that allows for a little risk spreading, and that difference is what has made it work so far (as far as it does work)This is not perfect, and in a lot of ways it is not good, but it is a move in a right direction.

ACA has increased premiums for young men, while women haven't had such a premium increase (some articles said it was 3-4% increase while men got i believe a 50% increase) The premiums should be effective in a gendered pool when men can subsidize men and women subsidize women.

ACA just shows that the govt is just willing to give more handouts for women rather than show them ways to be independant.

I am for socialized medicine but Obamacare is garbage. I shouldn't have to pay for health insurance at all much less subsidize someone else's.

Look, just a quick note - it does not help the culture or women to treat us like we need more support than men. It simply incentivizes dependance, which is bad for everyone. That victimizes men by making placing double the burden of responsibility on them - for themselves, and for women - and it infantilizes women by normalizing a sense of learned helplessness. It's like cutting women's legs off to prevent women from facing the hardship of having to work, then making men carry women because women are now incapable of "carrying" themselves. It's not logical. It's sneaky and abusive.

You mean car insurance?

I think most people would agree that health insurance is a basic human need. At some point in everyone's life they will require health care. Most people (I hope) agree that people shouldn't just be left to die due to lack of money or insurance.

The ACA costs more for healthy, young people because you are subsidizing the sick and old. That has always been true on any kind of group plan which is truly how our health insurance is set up to work in the US (through our jobs, government plans, etc.)

Car insurance is not a basic human need as many people don't even own cars. It is not deemed required under federal law (in fact this is a state by state requirement as far as what you are mandated to have). The risk pool is determined based on you, your characteristics and statistics. It is not based on a group of people together in a risk pool so there is no shared risk or subsidizing.
