if I actually am a misogynist. In some ways, I am extremely liberal minded, and in general I would say I think clearly about matters of sexism. But I've found myself with a real vitriol and anger towards women that is unhealthy.
What really made me realize this was something that happened to me this past weekend. I was hosting an event in my house with other people, most of whom were men. On of the girls there, who I had previously been flirting with online started to flirt with one of my friends, very aggressively. Why she chose to do it is moot, however eventually it lead to a very uncomfortable situation in which they started watching porn in my house.(I promise this story will come full circle to my original point)
I wasn't so much opposed to this, as much as I was opposed to them cumming or staining any of my furniture. Eventually I guess she got tired of toying with him and called her ride after telling him that she would help him drive home, as he was very drunk. She then switched into scared victim mode and texted me about how she was scared of him and how she didn't want to go home with him. He was a bit obnoxious and overly touchy at first, but her reaction seemed dramatic to me. It made me angry because I felt not so much that she owed him sex, but that she was setting up a situation that she could later claim was him being creepy.
Eventually it got VERY awkward to the point where everyone left, and I had to basically babysit them both. He is much older than her, and in my opinion should have known better. And the fact even though she lied and pretended she was leaving for another reason, he knew the real reason and still tried to pursue her. It left me at a real quandry. Because now I find myself disgusted with both of them as people. However, in the heat of the moment I thought to myself,"If he raped her, it would serve her right". This is horrible, because even if she was a terrible human being she doesn't deserve that.
I guess what I'm saying is that that incident brought to my attention my own bias and hate. And I would like to be able to be more empathetic and less reactionary. I don't want to hate women, but I know that I do. It goes far beyond just this incident. And I'm unsure where to go from here, and I feel uncomfortable talking to a woman about this.
