Grabbing a lawyer is going to get you the best results. If you can't, you're always welcome to make filings representing yourself. I know the courts here in Cali have workshops for properly filling out the forms and public advisors to help you through the process.

Call up the family court, they may have a service that will help out.

How is it that you don't know where your ex and daughter is? File a motion to have her held in contempt of court. Ask for sanctions. BTW a sanction could mean that you get full custody. There are specific statutes in CA which state that if the other parent thwarts your ability to see your child, they will lose custody.

As another poster stated... every county has a family court facilitators office that will help you for free - of course it was created primarily for women, they will help men as well. BTW as another note, this idea that law enforcement will not get involved is BS. if you have an order to see the kids on a particular day and she does not allow it, call the police and make a police report, she is violating a court order which is technically a crime (most DA's wont go after women though) BUT at least you have police reports... which you need to include as attachments to your request for an order. When you request the order... make it clear that you want an order ensuring that you know where she lives and where she keeps your daughter at all times... you have this right. If your ex has any money, file a separate motion for for attorney's fees. Teach yourself how to use the law look up CA Family Code 3028... become your own & daughters advocate.

During your court ordered visitation times you should call the police and say she is violating them. It's contempt of court to violate that order.

Call 211 (united way) or do a web search, often times you can find lawyers or organizations that will help you by offering sliding scale fees or pro bono work for all types of issues, you can also try the american bar association or your state's department of health and human services.

Unfortunately, it's not very often that a judge will do anything to enforce visitation. However, the process of getting her back in court and being admonished by the judge is a big hassle and can be a deterence.

I would suggest getting legal advice but I would also suggest that if you really can't afford it then you should self represent. It's very common.

Most states have lawyers guilds that will occasionally provide free legal advice and sometimes even representation for people who are low income and cannot afford to retain an attorney.

First thing I'd do is stop paying child support. Force her to give up their location by filling in court. When you get your notice it'll have her address.
