Literally everything you deem misandry is actually a manifestation of sexism towards women and misogyny under the patriarchy. All of the issues and prejudices that men face based on male gender roles have an equal and opposite force in misogynistic female gender roles. It is all encompassing and the root cause is misogyny. Just ask trans people, they have seen both sides.

The root cause of hating men is also misogyny believe it or not, because oppressed groups generally hate their oppressors, but the oppressed group cannot systemically harm their oppressors like oppressors can harm the oppressed.

Any examples MRAs come up with of male prejudice are the byproduct of misogyny:

The draft?

Comes from believing only men are strong and capable of fighting and that women are weak and better off pregnant. The draft goes against bodily autonomy and ideally no man or woman would be drafted.

No tinder matches?

Women are sexualised and seen as objects to attain by men. Men are encouraged to pursue women for sex. Women are inherently slut-shamed for pursuing sex in the reverse. It’s misogyny. Dating apps work by marketing women as objects to men (the buyers in OLD economies). If the reverse were to happen men would just be seen as sex objects. It’s shitty no matter what. Patriarchy hurts everyone but especially women.

Unequal custody?

Because women are expected to be the nurturers and primary care givers. They are expected to give up their future and ambitions to raise a child. This is a gender role placed on women by patriarchy. If men want equal custody, MRAs and feminists alike should be advocating for a 50/50 split of housework, childcare and career building.

Men not being taken seriously for mental health, abuse and rape?

Society teaches men they can’t express emotion. They can’t cry. They can’t be victims. Because that’s associated with weakness. Women are “allowed” to do this because we are already seen as weak and emotional and are expected to be victimised. Men are strong and powerful, women are not and cannot be especially not over a man. Men aren’t allowed to be victims in a misogynistic society because men are supposed to be the strong dominant ones not the weak, emotional ones. If men are victimised by other men they are deemed weak and feminised by extension. Everyone can see that this is bullshit and helps no one but it literally all stems from women being viewed as weak and inferior and the worst thing a man can be in this sexist society is to be like a woman.

If you genuinely care about reducing hatred and unfair gender constructs for men, feminist theory literally encompasses the tutorial of how to do that.

MRA groups recognise unfair gender roles and bias but they don’t offer a solution because they don’t reach the root cause and instead stop at blaming women who cannot do anything to help men if they have no power to change their own misogynistic designations in society.

By dismantling misogynistic conditioning and sexism and allowing women equal access to opportunity and power, all of these aspects that hurt men will be alleviated as there will not be bias towards what men are and can do and what woman are and can do.

Being mad at the patriarchy but blaming misandry not sexism is like being mad at the table you stubbed your toe on. It doesn’t solve anything and just makes you angry.

Fighting sexism and misogyny helps everyone. It moves the table out of the way so no one will stub their toe.
