Obviously we support the sentiments you've expressed, but I would encourage you to rethink your identification as a feminist. Your framing suggests that there is such a thing as good feminism, and that it is something that has largely been relegated to the past based on an evolution of feminism, but that earlier manifestations were about achieving a genuine and necessary equality. That's a popular belief, and you'll even see some men here express that in some form. But that misunderstands the historic nature of feminism. The first wave is framed as having campaigned for equality in the form of giving women the vote, which of course is something that only a misogynist would reject, right? But of course the actual history is more complicated. Those first wave feminists were all upper class white women, and what they were demanding was the vote for women like them; what happened to poorer women and/or women of color couldn't matter less to them. To the contrary, they were demanding a right that for many men didn't yet actually exist (see: poll tax), and which for men was conditioned upon a burden of citizenship: conscription in a time of war. These feminists wanted the right of voting, without the obligation men had. In other words, they wanted superiority, not equality, and only for an especially fortunate group of women like themselves. Moreover, these same feminist leaders founded the Women's Christian Temperance Union, which led to the disaster that was Prohibition and the resulting birth of organized crime. And they also founded Planned Parenthood, which you may approve of based on its modern aims, but which was created with the explicit goal of reducing the black population, who Sanger regarded as an inferior race. Each successive wave of feminism has only become more radical, more hostile to men, and more demanding of special treatment. If you care about equality, as you seem to, you would be better served rejecting feminism and identifying as an egalitarian, though obviously that choice is yours alone to make.

Ah yes, the old school feminist of the ‘choice feminism’ brand who gave zero thought to the fact that in a binary system giving one group all of the choices means that the other group doesn’t get any. If you just put one tiny bit of thought into what you were doing in your old school you would of realized that women’s liberation meant men can never be liberated from their roles because somebody has to take out the garbage or work themselves to death and that sure as shit isn’t going to be the one who gets to choose!

There’s no old school or new school it’s all the same school - women are to be liberated to choose their roles and men are expected to take whatever role madam doesn’t prefer - and men? Read the codes of knightly chivalry and tell me that my role isn’t the same as the knights of yore. 700 years later and our duty to women is exactly the same.

I totally support calling out rapists. What I don't support is the frenzy of the social mob and the inability of the accused to defend themselves meaningfully in any way. If there's an accusation then let's have a full investigation. Let's get all the facts on the table.

What I don't support is the hit and run, mob mentality of #metoo. It functions more as a truth suppressant in that any evidence, argument or defense of the accused is "rape apology."

Its the system that oppresses people, not groups. Men never oppressed women, its the higher powers that oppressed the lower class, and both men and women took what they could get to survive amd thrive in the world.

What feminists have seemed to forgotten is that civil rights is very very new on the block. Men had to work and go to war or they would be abused punished and killed by heirarchy. The rich womans word meant wayy more than a soldiers life, even if men did have power over their women, its practically all that they were able to have, and it came with tremendous responsibility. Responsibility that frankly, im glad is off mens shoulders.

So you're not able to accept the modern society of hating men is one you laid the foundation for, then. You joined a hate movement and fucked up society, and you still don't get it.

It doesn't matter if you're the member of the Klan they use to organize bake sales and be a good PR front for the community, because you were too much of a coward to consider why they put you there and you've deluded yourself into thinking it was just a few radicals doing the bad stuff, now further on down the line you're like "Wow the klan has changed.".

It never changed. In the 80s it was the Duluth model conceptualizing DV as "Patriarchal", that is still in effect and results in male victims of domestic violence going to jail. In the 1900s it was the white feathers.

It's always been like this.

You "Genuinely believing in equality" while wearing that pointy hood (calling yourself a feminist), makes you culpable just like they are.

I'm telling you that because you seem like a decent person, but you need to get over the fact you made a mistake and stop engaging in apologetics for a hate movement.

Why not divorce your husband? This would give you a free house and guaranteed income for life. Then you could be a stay at home mom AND have a different man live with you and 'help' with the housework. Best of both worlds. Have a kid with the second guy, rinse and repeat. Life on easy mode!
