Also, there's obvious hypocrisy here. Many incels legitimately can't do much about their situation. Whether that's due to looks, mental issues, autism, bad upbringing or something else is debatable, but either way their current status is not something they can immediately change. Now can you imagine if someone said another's views don't matter because of their gender, or their race, or their sexual orientation? The outrage would never stop! But with incels, it's totally OK.

Also, most incels don't even harbour misogynistic views, but are depressed and lonely. But even for the ones that do, a broken clock tells the time twice a day. Just because their worldview is skewed, doesn't mean you can assume that 100% of what they say is wrong. That's why you're supposed to question the argument, not the person behind it, and if you don't, you either look dishonest or incompetent, like you don't have an argument. Femininsts and the elites in general sometimes lecture their opponents on these concepts, like they think we're slow on the uptake and not smart enough to understand them, only to make the exact same errors in judgement and use them in their arguments, because they're coming from their side so it's convenient to ignore them.

Would you be willing to define this 'popular definition' for clarity?

In my personal experience there are exactly two usages of the term "incel". One is the originator, used to self-describe someone that feels connected to a community of individuals frustrated that the dating situation for young men is horrendously unbalanced and feel like they have no outlook for change or improvement. This is probably what you are referring to in your post.

The other is a hate term used to describe someone that is below consideration for basic social understanding and used as a means to dehumanize a group or individual. Basically calling them worthless, and attempting to paint whatever it is they are saying/doing as violent/hateful/discriminatory. This is likely the most common usage of the term in society right now because its become the catchall for hateful feminists and other discriminatory groups to use to vilify or dehumanize men that speak for Men's Rights.

But I can't tell from context which of these two you are speaking about.

I don't think people are saying that incels are a myth, I think people are simply disagreeing on what one is.

Original definition: lonely person of either gender who wishes for a partner but is unable to get one
Modern mainstream definition: hysterical media projection of the most extreme and violent men who have claimed to be, or can be linked in any way, with incels as a culture
Modern internet definition: anyone who disagrees with feminists or has any opposing viewpoint which leans in favour of supporting men

The first certainly exists. Doesn't really require any explanation, people like this are easy to find.

The second "exists" but only in the extreme minority, unfortunately then blamed on a much broader section of men.

The third is simply a baseless insult indiscriminately levelled at even married men with children because it's an easy attack word to imply that someone is inhumanely dismissive or aggressive towards women and feminist progress.

Somewhere between #1 and #2, or between #2 and #3 is where people start disagreeing, because everybody's using different definitions and talking past each other. People will argue over whether a non-violent incel can exist, whether a violent incel is still an incel (because he's not just a quiet lonely person and is giving other men a bad name), whether incel now just means "man I don't like", or... whatever, point is, different definitions used by different groups of people.

There are a few outliers who will say that no man is truly incel because (vague ramblings about trying harder, skirting concerningly around issues of consent, and something something prostitutes), but these are a minority even around Reddit.

And by “incel” I do not refer to the literal definition, inability to get sex, but the popular definition.

The definition of incel is somebody who not only doesn't get sex, but also expects women to give them sex, or acts otherwise hostile towards and or women or men who are sexually active.

They have to come with some form of resentment to be regarded as an incel.

When you inherently believe in your heart and soul that women can’t be lonely like men, that women don’t face despair, that women just have to be present to “get dates”…..YOU ARE THE PROBLEM. That’s misogyny. That’s referring to women as some other that’s incapable of feeling pain like you and loneliness. That’s fucking gross. That’s essentially saying that women are subhuman and incapable of feelings. The whole idea that women go for the “top 10%” of guys is also a crock of bullshit perpetuated over and over by these black pill dudes. The most ironic part is that you blame women for their predicament which is a problem in itself….meanwhile these guys are taking horrendous advice from other men online that leads to them killing themselves. Nobody is talking about foids and holes and roping but other men. Not women. Men.
